NEW Radeon Drivers Released

If your talking about the win9x/me ones, they are based on the 7075 and still suck. When is ATI going to clean up it's act. My AIW Radeon still needs the 3063 drivers to use all its features. Kyro II here i come. peace out.

This makes me worried... especially since I'm considering the LE.
Most people don't seem to be having driver problems, why is it some (loud) people are?

Bluemax...

You have been told in your post that the win2k drivers are a bit behind...but catching up. They were worse at one time. I myself am having no problems. I chose to use the beta version released weaks ago and I am going to stick with them. My scores and benchmarking rock. I run win98se.

Another area of driver concerns is with the AIW cards...very buggy!

If you get LE and run in win98 you will be very happy trust me...
If you get LE and run in win2k you most likely will still be happy, but overtime will get happier. (note: it is not like most companies win2k drivers do not suck...most do...maybe it is a lot to do with winsuck)
If you get AIW most likely you will pull your frekkin hair out like the rest.

Lots of people must be doing something wrong because i have an AIW and w2k and it works great. no problems. I've used every beta driver release right when they come out and i've been fine. Only issue i've had it with the tv using a lot of cpu time but that is fixed. I'm using 3116 right now

Davegod75, I am just curious about a few things. I've got the 64MB VIVO of the Radeon which shares a few of the multimedia applications as the AIW. I agree the 3D part of the drivers in win2k work quite well...now...but the MMC applications make me want to "pull <my> frekkin hair out" like Duvie said. You said you had high cpu utilization but that its fixed now, what vers of the MMC are you using? The 7.0 or the 7.1? Are you using a beta vers of MMC also? Do they come in different build numbers like the 2D/3D drivers, i.e. 3116. Just a few of the things that don't work "as advertised" include, video capture in mpeg2 format results in a screen freeze exactly 30 seconds into the captured video. The video in application results in a hard lock in win2k every 2 to 3 times that it is started, i.e. mouse frozen, no task manager as in dead as a door knob.

Thanks,
Kish

Wow, was i "loud" there? Anyway check out the Rage3D board before considering a radeon. I have the luxury of owning an AIW Radeon board which is the most "un"user friendly installation i've ever seen in a Video Card. This is my first ATI card, and is definetly my last. Maybe Radeons without features are a better way to go (32 DDR, LE) but definetly not the AIW. I'm just giving people the heads up, and no i'm no newbie to PCs. Peace out.

I have a AIW Radeon running great in win2k also...can't even remember what version is installed. I took a risk and installed DX8 too...a few tweaks and wha-la, it's all good.

Of course, I can't say the same for win2k as a whole...piece of crap ACPI hardware abstraction layer...can't manage IRQ's worth a damn...it stacked five devices on one IRQ, one of which was the SB Live and as everyone knows, the SB Live doesn't "play well with others".

I should also say that I have a 64MB VIVO on my win98se system at home...I had only one problem ever...couldn't play MDK2 w/o occasional crashes but that problem was fixed a long time ago.
