Hi,
I just upgraded my video card from a Radeon 5870 to an XFX 5970 Black Edition. I haven't had much time to play with it. However I am seeing some odd benchmarks. 3DMark Vantage at extreme settings only gives me a score of 13440. I was expecting it to be over 20,000? I have had no instabilities or problems it just seems very slow. It is factory overclocked to 725Mhz GPU and 1Ghz Memory.
Is this normal or is something wrong?

My system: Intel Core i7 930 (stock voltage but stable for months at 3.73Ghz), RAM 12GB DDR3 at 1068mhz, 1TB WD Black HDD, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 Mainboard, Antec P183 Case with additional fans, PSU is a Corsair 850 Watt single rail.

I will get some GPU-Z shots tonight. I thought everything was set for the application, but will double check the AA AF settings.

What score do you get on your 5870 using the same test? I have a very similar system, unfortunately I only have the cheap $9.99 version of Vantage so I can only run benchmarks at default settings.

A default run of Vantage with my processor and the cards at stock settings usually gives my 5870 scores in the mid 18k range, whereas the 5970 gets around 21-22k.

The 5970 is fast, but it certainly isn't a day and night difference from the 5870.

It would seem that stupid is as stupid does. I was running the benchmark in extreme mode. In performance mode it gets a score over 25,000. So thank you all for taking the time to humor the village idiot.
