18 August 2008 Challenge: final push for ogr
Hello,
be prepared for the final push for ogr challenge".
This race starts at 1. September 0:00 UTC and ends at 15. September 0:00 UTC. The team and user with the most credits in this period is the winner.

The goal of this race is to push the OGR project a bit to its final goal. Currently more than 90% are finished and we hope that the project will still finish in 2008. The OGR project searches for aoptimal Golomb rulers of order 25 . We encourage each participant to enable only the cruncher application during the race and switch muon and evolution@home off.

The race stats can be seen at boincstats.

Happy Crunching,
yoyo

Here are the official completition times, let's make them shorter by improving our ranking at Yoyo@Home!

good idea, so we could even add an additional race: TAS against the TeAm!

hmm, but I'm not sure if we get enough people for the TeAm to compete against the power of TAS 😉

I will move a quad over tonight to share with Intelligence Realm until its que is done.

On Intelligence Realm I have been getting 6K per day as opposed to around 19K per day on Milkyway. It's still exciting! The TeAm has moved up 17 steps, from 49th to 32nd in a week. If I maintain full production for the rest of the month, we will only move up more 4 steps.

It won't take much to talk me into moving back to Yoyo. I was shooting for a Million before Milky Way hit. 😉

Sounds good to me! Yoyo has a 64 bit linux client too.

Fred, how does the linux client perform at yoyo?

So far, so good! I haven't finished any WUs yet because I'm sharing with Intelligence Realm. There may be some slowdown because IR uses so much ram (3.9GB.)

Update: YoYo is solid on Linux!

From the looks of things on another thread, it we could get IJump over here we could have a match race: IJump against the world!

The only "con" I see for Yoyo (and specifically, OGR on Yoyo) is that it runs hot. As in CPU heat. Just a heads up....

Thanks for the linux info Fred!

If my memory serves me right, SOB ran hot too!

no, we're talking about yoyo@home the boinc version of OGR-25 which tries to add some more power to the dnet network to make OGR-25 end sooner.

Cool stats, petrusbroder!!

😎

I'm crunching with everything that I have. Smoke and Rudy Toody gave me the parts for the Intel machine that I added last February, and Rudy Toody gave me everything but the case and the hard drive for the machine that I added on 9/6. He also gave me some other parts, but I don't have enough to build another machine yet. -- maybe I can add another machine in 3 or 4 months. I realize that that doesn't help us now ... but it's the best I can do now.
