A built in sound chip is exactly like it says -a built in sound chip to pass HDMI audio through with the video. it's not going to replace a true sound card. people really need to stop thinking this thing somehow has a sound card on it as well. :roll:

Does it really matter if R600 is an actual sound card?

IMO, this is a video card, I dont need yet another sound card. That would make three audio devices in my PC.

Meh, I have my doubts about 1GHZ on stock volts.

For card that is so power hungry to begin with, it seems pretty far fetched to me.

More than likely AMD just followed standard procedure by giving out golden samples of the card to slect people to create a buzz.

If R600 was 65nm I might be more inclined to believe it.
