New question: how long does HDMI run?

I had a friend run a RJ-6? cable from my living to my bedroom
Since i am the only one who lives here there is only 1 channel on at any one time.
I have a HD satellite receiver from Dish Network in the living and a off air antenna which cable ends into that receiver.

How can I take the HD out of the Dish receiver and the Off air antenna to my new LCD in my bed room?

Edit: Is it possible to send it through a HDMI Splitter and put it through a 50' HDMI cable ?

If you have the dish dvr 722 I know that it has a coax connection on the back for a second room, it is not hd though.

If your wanting to get HD in both rooms, thats a bit more complicated and not cheap to do with just one receiver and a rg6 cable.
You would need to convert the component ouputs + audio ouputs of the Sat receiver into RF, run it through the cable, then convert that RF back to component+audio. The equipment to do that runs about 1500.00 for the transmitter and another 900.00 for the receiver.

You would be better getting dish to add another box to the second tv if you require hdtv there.

You want to use the RG-6 cable between the two rooms? It is possible, but it wont be a HiDef signal.

On the back of the receiver there should be an output called "Tv out" or "Ant out". The connector type will look the same as what you would have for the Antenna In. Hook up one end of the cable to that output and the other end to your TV's antenna input. Channel 3 (or 4) will be the channel that the receiver is showing and the rest of the channel numbers will be what you would expect from the antenna.

Yup. Google for HDMI splitters that support copy protection. You can run as many HDMI cables out as your want.

Another rather simple option is to run 5 Coax connections (with RCA adaptors) from your receiver to your TV.. or better yet, buy a 50ft 5-RCA component video cable from monoprice.com and run that. Contrary to what another dude mentioned, you can do 1080i over the component to your TV. I have a dish 722, with 5 component runs all over the house doing just that. If you want to run digital audio as well, either get a toslink to coax spdif converter and utilize one of the extra 2 runs on the RCA, or buy a 50ft optical cable and tape it to your 5-RCA component video cable.

Im thinking of running HDMI to my bedroom Tv (1080P) and hooking the living room (720p) up via Component
because then there would be less cable to run

How does that sound?

That's pretty much what I'm doing. HDMI in the bedroom where the receiver is, then I'm running a 50ft component video (but analog sound) to the projector downstairs. The 722 can output HDMI and component simultaneously so it should work. I'll know in a couple of weeks after I get the cables and install them.

Why not run the smaller HDMI cable to the projector?
