New puppy! (Pick up in 3 weeks)

Wonder if it comes from the shepard background. The dogs nip the herd to keep them in line.

Our 5 month old labradoodle pup goes through this occasionally. I've found that playing with him with a good chew toy (tug-of-war style) will USUALLY calm him down.

Yeah, part of it is the nipping tendency they have, but like BoomerD mentioned, quite a bit of it the biting just comes from puppies crazy energy level. It's kind of like young kids on too much sugar and pinging off of the walls until they crash.

Today he had the last of his puppy shots, and I think the Distemper vaccine always makes him not feel very well, and leaves him pretty lethargic for the rest of day.

He rolled over once for a belly rub, and then was too weak/tired to leave the position after it was over.

The demon is still growing (last weigh in last month was around 35 lbs). He might be close to 40 lbs now.

Earlier they were fighting more than usual (because of his nipping that she doesn't tolerate much anymore), and tonight they (thankfully) made up:

A little over 6 months old now.

Today my wife and I went to the store, so we left him with our youngest son while we were gone. He was not happy about this arrangement and let everyone know it.

We've started leaving our 55 lb, 7 month old labradoodle by himself if we all need to go for a short (in town) trip. SO FAR, he's been good...no pee/poop, no destruction of anything. He goes in to get neutered in 2 weeks...we'll see how that changes him.

Neutering is in our future as well (probably within the next 45 days).

Hopefully it knocks his blanket humping, and overall orneriness down a few notches.

Fortunately, he hasn't really started the humping...yet. (other than trying to mount our 17 year old grandson when they're on the floor wrestling around.)

FWIW, chopping off the nuts may or may NOT stop the humping. One of our little rat dogs didn't start humping anything until about a year after he was de-nutted.

My “puppy” 😂 he’s a rescue & about 18 pounds now, sleeps with us at night & rollson his back posing to get treats… don’t dare touch the belly though 😂
