Does he have amblyopia?
I don't think so as the breeder hasn't said anything about that to my wife. Plus, they have a lot of written guarantees with their dogs, so it's likely just the photo.

I guess we'll know for sure in a week when we travel there to pay/pick him up.

Good luck with an aussie. Adorable puppies but you really got to know what you are doing with a dog with that much energy and drive. Just remember fences can't stop them. The one I had as a kid could climb like a damn cat.

Nice looking pup.

We had our (not so) little monster at the vet last Friday for his 3 month puppy shots. When we got him at 8 weeks old, he weighed 16 lbs. on Friday...26 lbs. o_O
He's gonna be a fckn monster!
(mom and dad are both between 40 and 50 lbs...he must be some kind of prehistoric throwback)

My pup was 16 lbs when I got him at 8 weeks, and 110lbs at 7 months

I'm not sure that's any indicator. Puppies have two modes, on and off. When off comes, they're out ... anywhere.

So far our current dog is not digging the new puppy.

The puppy wants to be by her, but she's not having any of that. She hasn't growled or bit at it, but she is keeping her distance for sure.

The puppy is much smaller than I was expecting based on the pictures my wife sent earlier when she picked it up.

I've been married to my wife for 21+ years. Getting a new puppy to replace our Border Collie who we had to put down in July was probably the biggest divide over an issue we've had that entire time. Seriously.

I am 110% firmly in the camp about adopting dogs from pounds/rescues as there are so many out there that need homes. I've never had a dog/cat that wasn't adopted this way (our other dog was adopted from an animal shelter). My wife absolutely decided she wanted a (way too much $$$) Australian Sheppard (Merle colored), and there wasn't/isn't any of that particular dog available outside of dedicated Australian Sheppard breeders. The breeder does seem like a good breeder with years and years of glowing reviews and not the irresponsible "puppy mill" kind.

I fought the good fight for a month and half trying to get her to change her mind, but of course "happy wife, happy life" prevailed as she would not budge on her decision AT ALL. We usually can "meet in the middle" on almost every other decision we have ever faced, but not this time. Honestly, it almost felt like we were debating/arguing politics with our unwillingness to alter our stances at all. ;)

So in three weeks, we get to drive 3 hours (6 hours roundtrip) to pick up the new puppy. The video quality isn't the best since it was sent by text message and compressed all to hell, but here's a video the breeder sent my wife this evening of our new dog.

Once we get it, I'll post some better pics/video of him.

Dude.....a happy wife is more important than anything else in the world.......here let me give yuo an example......

Dude...you wake up in the morning you go to work!! While at work you get promoted to CEO of the company!! You gte a new company car and a charge card with unlimited usage....you receive in the mail a check from publishers clearing house for $50,000!!! You get off work and go home early all happy.....you get home all happy and ready to go out for dinner with the wife to celebrate -- The wife is pissed none of what happenned today matter......the wife is pissed!!

So tomorrow you go back to work and you find a note on your door that you have been demoted to Janitor!
The Police knock on your door at work and serve you with a subpoena from the IRS for tax embezzlement! You leave work to go to lunch.....you get in a car accident that totals the car and you get a ride to the police station to be finger printed and booked because the accident was your fault!! You arrive at home 12 hours later beaten and bruised and bleeding.........you look into the bedroom and there is your true love asleep with a smile on her glorious face.......all of a sudden the world is not such a bad place why?? A happy wife equals a happy life!!

First day with new dog.

He is hyper and wants to chew on everything (expected), but man thing dog knows how to cry/whine for attention. He did pretty good the first night in his crate as he slept for about 4 hours, woke up to eat and use the bathroom, and went back to sleep for another 4 hours in it.

Honestly it feels almost like having a newborn baby. :p

3 days or so and you’ll suddenly find your standoffish playing with the pup. Has always worked out like that with new additions to our “pack” over the years. The established ones shun the pup for a few days and …bang… they’ve made a 180 degree turnaround.

Yeah, they'll get there but right now she's not having any of it.

She snapped at the puppy tonight when it was jumping at her head on the couch. She also hasn't been a fan when the dog jumps at me nipping and playing. I think she doesn't understand he's a puppy and playing, but my wife had to hold her back from jumping into action "protecting" me.

Their personalities couldn't be more different right now. She's lazy and a couch potato, and the you'd think we were putting crystal meth in the new dog's water. I know puppies are hyper, but this guy is on whole another level in energy.

We took our 12 week old pup over for a "play date" with his sister this afternoon. He was 26 lbs last Friday, she was 16 lbs.
What a blast...it took them each a bit to get familiar with the other...then, they were off and running. Typical puppy play...running, biting, rolling around...non stop for over an hour. Went outside in the rain...the play continued for at least another 30 minutes. Ended up with two soggy doggies...and muddy too...but they had a great time.
Once we got home, cleaned him up, dried him off...and fed him some (second) lunch, he crashed HARD.
We'll probably make this a regular...(weekly?) thing. Good for both pups.

It's been a little over 3 weeks since picking him up, but it feels like it's been a lot longer than that. He really has a great personality, but when he gets into his overexcited/rabid mode, he is quite the little biter. He is pretty well potty trained at this point, and seems to learn things quickly if you can hold his attention (treats). He goes from sweet to raptor mode within seconds at times, so you always have to be ready.

Our other dog hasn't wanted to be around him a lot yet because of his jumping/biting, and has given him a few nips to let him know that. Although today when he got his bath, he insisted that he lay right next to her to warm up. She didn't like it at all first, but she eventually let him lay his head on her. He always wants to be around people, and can really cry very loudly when he's not part of the action.

Been a bit since last pics, but dogs are (slowly) becoming friends. Our oldest dog still doesn't tolerate him quite a bit because he is like a little biting hurricane when he gets too excited.

He was just over 7 lbs when we got him, and I think he's around 22 lbs now. He has a sweet personality and is obsessed with belly rubs. Seriously, this dog is on his back more than standing up if he thinks he can get a belly rub from someone.
