wow thanks flaming

i see that he reccomends the SP 530, and its only $75.

(im now off the idea of the X-connect.)

So now im on the, OCZ Modstram 450, the SP 530, the Enermax 460, and the Forton Blue Storm.

ok this will finish my descision, SP 530 vs. OCZ

OCZ has lights, i like that
SP has more fans, i like that
OCZ has connect-as-you-need plugs, i like that
SP has more output power, i like that

The SP may be rated higher but does not have a higher out put. The OCZ 450 peaks at 550 and the 520 peaks at 635 IIRC.

Also the rails are stronger on the OCZ.

i have a Fortron 500w blue storm. It's quiet, has a 2 year warrenty (i think), dual 12v rails (15a on each), and is very stable. Fully sleaved cables are nice too. It was $79 on newegg.

How quiet are you looking for though. The Modstreams fan has some electrical buzz to it. Nothing too bad but it cant compete with Seasonic. Other than that they are excellent PSUs.

-Kevin

quiet doesnt really concern me. i would much rather have better airflow than worry about noise (except when dealing with vantec tornado's and other VERY high RPM/CFM fans)

Every stinking day there are 14 new threads created to ask the same old question "what brand of psu shoud I buy" Almost all of the time it is the same brands being recommeded over and over again.... PC Power and Cooling and Antec. Just search this forum and do some homework the old fashiod way, before the internet was so widespread.

everybodys needs are different for different cases and different systems, i ask becuase i have personal questions that i would like answered and like to have convorsations with ppl and explain what i like/dislike in PSU's so i can get the best possible PSU.

how is the Ultra X-Connect 500 watt PSU? is it as good as the OCZ Modstream 450 watt PSU?
X-Connect has not been getting good reviews for stability. If your looking for a modular PSU, the Antec Neo power V2.0 is worth looking at. It would meet your power demands with lots of headroom.

Edit for Neo link.

Wrong, it's been getting good reviews everywhere you look.
Just google "Ultra X-connect review" and you won't find anything bad about it.

But it does have a few flaws.. well mainly just 1.. the cables are a little stiff. neat freaks might not like it.

CraigRT, you called me to the mat on that one. Did what you said and the good reviews are all over the place. I was so WRONG! That's what I get for reading MaximumPC. What a n00b I've been. At least my subscription is done soon. Then I can begin the purification process.

I'll sit down now and be back when I actually know something instead of thinking that I know something.

I know this is OT, but if you like magazines... Pick up a copy of CPU.

I actually like Maximum PC, but it seems like their reviews are a little lame, my subscription ended last year and I didn't get another one.

I trust reputable hardware sites a lot more... but that's just me.
