I had PSU Rasurbo 550w DLP 55.1 in system for 2 months, and last week it died when runing 3D Mark Vantage.
It briefley heard hissing noise as snakes do, then PC turned OFF.
No other component was harmed as it runs now on PSU LC Power 5-550w.

I mean what went wrong? The two 12V+ lines do handle 19A and 18A.

Is it my CPU i5 750 that was OC to 4,2Ghz (1,35V, around 220W consumed).
Graphic card is PowerColor 5770 which is slightly OC without voltage increase (105W as reviewed).
And I have water cooling pump(10W) with 2x 120mm (5W) and 2x 200mm(10W) ventilators.
With 3 harddrives Samsung F2 eco 5200rpm (together 40W).
I dont know how much Motherboard and ram consume, but I suspect it is less than 40W.

So in calculations my PC uses around 430W at load.

I already contacted the store, and they will give me another, if they see that it really died of natural cause "whatever that means".

And now the second question, do I need 100W stronger PSU, as I heard that a lot of PSU die in a week, when runing at 90% of their power 24/7.

You do understand that you do NOT simply add the two +12V rails to come up with what the power supply can put out on the two rails combined, right? While the two rails may be capable of providing 19A and 18A individually, the combined output will be much lower given the low quality of that power supply.

And that LC Power power supply is another barely mediocre weak unit.

And I'd never run a power supply at 90% of rated output 24/7. While a good unit would be able to do just that without expiring within a week, doing that will certainly stress any power supply, creating more excess heat and definitely shortening its lifetime.

I'd look into a decent Antec (Truepower) or Corsair (TX line) or the like and get away from those cheaply built power supplies you're using.

As I understand two +12V rails are neded that one is for CPU+MB+RAM, and another for GPU+DVD+HD, and when u need 2 GPU in CF or SLI you need at least one more +12V rail.

Well I trust LC Power as they lasted at least 3years in my older former PCs. But Rasurbo is the brand that my supplier put a good word for it, and I guess it is just a one of hundred that break down because it is 2 years warranty.

I heard that Antec, Corsair, Enermax do good PSU, but I am not ready to pay 3x of the price, even if they have 1 year more warranty. Maybe when another dies i wil change my opinion but as for now, I will just live with LC or Rasurbo.

Any other Rasurbo user want to share some experience, or is it really just non-existant low cost PSU maker.

OP: First of all, Corsair does not have "1 more year of warranty"--it has FIVE more years of warranty. That's right, Corsairs are warrantied for SEVEN years because they last at least that long.

Second, you aren't paying for just the extra warranty, you are paying for a unit built with quality parts that can actually output the numbers listed continuously under "worst case scenario" situations.

Are you living outside of the US by any chance? Because if you aren't, I'm not sure why these quality units cost 3x the price unless your crappy units are going for like $10. You got lucky the PSU didn't take anything with it this time. You might not be so lucky next time.

Also--so you know, a quality unit will also be a heck of a lot more efficient than the units you are using, and depending on where you live, you will see a noticeable difference in your monthly power bill using one.

No other component was harmed because you were lucky, but next time you may not be. Would you rather roll the dice again or spend a little more to protect the rest of your components?

I mean what went wrong? The two 12V+ lines do handle 19A and 18A.
They may be able to do that around the freezing point, but certainly not at operating temps.

So in calculations my PC uses around 430W at load.
Doubtful. The highest 12V wattage LC 550W I could find only has 372W 12V.

I already contacted the store, and they will give me another, if they see that it really died of natural cause "whatever that means".
If by another you mean Rasurbo, then your answer should be "Not on your life!".

And now the second question, do I need 100W stronger PSU, as I heard that a lot of PSU die in a week, when runing at 90% of their power 24/7.
A good quality 500-550W is plenty, but if you were really using 90% of that a 650W would be much better. (Although a good quality PSU could run at 90% with no problems.)

Multiple 12V rails are not necessary.

You should consider changing suppliers then. A good quality PSU should last much more than 3 years; LC Power is crap.

I heard that Antec, Corsair, Enermax do good PSU, but I am not ready to pay 3x of the price, even if they have 1 year more warranty. Maybe when another dies i wil change my opinion but as for now, I will just live with LC or Rasurbo.
The warranty has nothing to do with the quality of the PSU, although it can be an indicator. The PSU is the most important component in your system, so you should be willing to spend money on it. It could end up being far more expensive having to replace other parts of your system if your PSU ends up frying them.

@TemjinGold
Yes I live in Southern EU, where Corsair 550W is 120$ and LC 550 is 40€.
Well 70% against Corsair 80% efficiency wont rob my electric bill.

@theAnimal
I guess i was realy lucky, and now when you said that I realy plan on buying some better brand of PSU, as I had heard by some friends they had to change whole PC because of PSU failure. I will try to convince for refund and invest some more money in PSU.

Thx to all contributors!

samuraj: What does Corsair 450VX cost there? Because you don't actually need a 550. The 450VX can put out more power than your LC Power 550.

Also, the Corsair's efficiency is a good bit better than 80%.
