New PSU for a C2D system

Looking at one of these PSU's to power C2D system with moderate OC down the road. No SLI or Xfire planned. 2 HDD, TV Tuner, 7600GT (going to 8800GTS later).

I've always been a Seasonic fanboy...quiet, which is a huge issue for me, but I want stable, dependable power too. The Corsairs really caught my eye too, as they are based on Seasonic too. Lotsa folks here seem to like the Corsair, and $80 for the 550 W doesn't look too bad.

Hep me!! Opinions appreciated. Please don't recommend any 700-1000W PSU, I don't need one.

the VX550 isn't made by Seasonic if that helps you out any....but initial reviews say it is very good...however not being out as long all the bugs may not have surfaced.

The HX520 is also extremely quiet and comes with a 5 yr. warranty with quick RMA turnaround time.

Interesting graph, shows the seasonic gets the loudest at highest load, while the Corsair stays about the same.

What's the source of this graph?

The M12 is also modular...what's the main advantage of being so?

very true! But it would appar that Corsair as a company is alot like the PC Power & Cooling people when it comes to making sure that whoever manufactures their PSU`s adheres to their own high standards!!

With that said - I se nothing wrong with getting the VX550!!
The Seasonic M12-600 is also nice!!

But would still lean towards iether of the 2 corsairs!!

Modular means you only hook up the cables you need, so no unnecesary cluttering of molex connectors and what not, that you aren't using. Makes for a clean looking case and better airflow. And well, both the 520hx and the 550vx are qaulity psu's, with stable rails and almost no ripple. Both are good picks. The 520hx 'might' have a little more amps on the 12v rails, but I don't know for sure.

I'd say just get the Hx520, it's the easy way to get something that runs well with little noise.

You know the 450w Corsair is more than enough to power a 8800gtx system, right? If your wanting to save about $20-$25 off the 520, that would be the way to go. The Antec 380w can power a e6600 OC'd and a 8800gtx by itself, but won't have much, if any, power left over. So you can get the 450w Corsair, if the $20-$25 savings will benefit your needs.

The advantage of modular is that you don't need to have the wires that you don't use. So you don't have to tuck and hide or tie up any extra wiring. Makes it neater and easier to install and maintain.

I've had bad experiences with both of the Antec PSU's I've owned. I won't go near them again. I know some of their units are made by Seasonic now, but I just can't bring myself back to them.

hx 520 was at club it for $81 the other day. I liked mine so much I got an hx 620 for my file server (and for future upgrade needs).

Anything of 300W or higher should be fine... I powered an Acer E700 (Q6600, 8800GTS/320, 4x500GB, 4x1GB, dual tvtuner, plus all the normal stuff) with the included lite-on 300W PSU; worked great.

OK, it's clear how the poll is turning out...thanks for the help! I ordered the HX520 from ZZF for $87 after rebate. Best I could find at the time.
