Ive seen the new about the new PSP's but how do you tell the difference between them or was the original PSP removed entirely?

I'm looking at black friday ads and would rather get the new one then old one!

Thanks!

Any of the new daxter or star wars combo packs will be a new "slim" 2000 series PSP.

If in doubt, check the model number, the PSP slim should start with 2001, while the old style would start with a 1000,1001 number.

You need someone with an older one that's already cracked to install the homebrews.

You have to flash the PSP to custom firmware to be able to play homebrew things. You can do it with the Slim PSP without having to have an old one, either.

I could be wrong, but depending on the method, you may need to have someone with the older battery/psp do some setup first. But I don't know as I'm still content with it non homebrewed.

The Daxter and battlefront packs are the new psp's as Yreka said. There is also a "Piano Black" package that comes in a similiar box and is psp. The model numbers will be 2000/2001.
