Any news on the supposed new PS3 coming to replace the 80GB?

Nope. Looks like they are just replacing the 80GB with a 80GB bundle that includes MGS4 and the new DualShock controller.

Isn't the new 80 gig models supposed to have the 65nm Cell like the current 40gig ? As to where the current ones had the 90nm ?

I am hoping for a package PS3 w/ GT5 Prologue when it comes out. I am really looking forward to that game.

Well, Europe is supposed to be getting the PS3 40GB with GT5 Prologue. Haven't heard anything about a GT5 prologe bundle in NA yet.

No Sixaxis, Dualshock 3. Dualshock 3 = Dualshock 2 + Sixaxis.

45nm PS3 possible

Probably quite a delay before the 45nm cpus get out. I wouldn't count on a price cut though. Sony will probably just try to make up some of the losses on the PS3. It seems that the PS3 is selling well enough now.

awesome if true, but I'm not buying it. and I certainly won't hold off any purchase plans for a pipe dream rumor about a Sony product.

My original thinking was I'd wait for the slim because by the time it came out it would be cheaper and there would be plenty of games to choose from. At this point I'm thinking I'll snag the MGS4 bundle so I can start enjoying PS3 games (with rumble!) and Blu-ray movies. I'm on a spending spree so might as well go for broke and get the big piano black behemoth.

Well, I was speaking more towards the chip size and not the console size. But yeah, the MGS4 bundle would be the only thing to make me wait on a PS3 right now.

On a related thought - I wonder how the announcement of the bundle is going to affect PS3 sales for the next couple of months. How many people are going to wait now?

Yep. the DS3 will be in the bundle.

The European bundle doesn't get the DS3.

i'm waiting for a slimmed down version that will actually fit into my cabinet. Currently, the ps3 is the only bluRay player that is software upgradeable to the newest version, so it is definitely the one to get.
