Link - Yeah, I pretty much put everything that is coming with this update in the subtitle. The Photo Gallery app has to be installed after the firmware update though.

To install the Photo Gallery application, go to the Photo section on the XMB, select Photo Gallery and press the X button.

Click through the link to see a video of the photo gallery in action.

I thought the PS3 already had DivX support, and that this was just an update? Maybe I'm wrong, I don't really keep up with the codec news.

mkv will never be supported by mainstream. It's not like you don't have other ways to play mkv on PS3 if you really wanted to.

That's what I thought as well.

Same here, but I don't P2P or rip rentals so I don't pay much attention to it.

It's unlisted, but there may also be blu-ray fixups for badly authored discs.

Eh? 😕

You do realize that the Circuit City divx and the now used divx codec are two entirely different things, right?

I think it was more of a jab that CC is going out of business moreso than the technical details of their DivX spec differences. 🙂

Oh, and Joystiq says the patch is live right now.

Got the firmware, but the photo gallery app (another 106 mb) was taking forever, so I cancelled. I'll do it tomorrow.

Through TVersity? If so, that doesn't count.
