New PS2 Online Pack

Hey,

I just bought the new Playstation 2 Online pack for $199, supposedly it's better than the older PS2, new differences,

- Progressive Scan DVD
- IR Reciever built in for remote
- Better Chips
- 30% quieter fan
- DVD-R readable

However when I went through the given literature I did not find anything about any of these new features, I called several Electronic Boutiques and half of them said that the one out right now ($199) has all these features, the other half told me that the new console w/ these updates is coming out next year...

I still have a few days b4 my Return Policy day runs out...can someone give me some input...should i wait for new system, is this the new system or a regular PS2 w/ Network card? Do anyone have some news on the new PS2?

it is, the new one is not out

I saw some of the newly updated PS2's at Frys the otherday

Check for the firewire port...

If the network adapter is built in, you've got the new one. There should also be an IR reciever on the front somewhere, look close. There won't be a firewire port either.

If the IR receiver for the DVD remote is built in, you've got the new and improved PS2. Strange they mention DVD-R....I've read several DVD-R on my machine over the last year (or were those DVD+R?).
