New project I am working on.
I currently have about 200-300 different locations around the United States that I would like to place on a map. I would then like users to be able hover over the state and a popup would open with all the locations located in that state. Users could then choose a location from that list and be taken to detailed map of that location.

I?m really just in the planning stages and looking for advice and ideas on how to tackle this project. I was thinking of using a map similar to this one: http://dartworth.com/map2.jpg

I would like to incorporate something like istockphoto.com uses. When you mouseover over an image a popup opens with info.

The organization I belong to is rather large (400K+ members). I am doing this on my own and really would like to give it a "web 2.0 feel"🙂

I am not a developer myself and will more than likely pay for work to be done. Right now, I am just trying to get some ideas for the project.
