New PowerStrip beta allows custom resolutions + refresh rates for X1900 cards!

Finally a new PowerStrip beta that lets you set custom resolutions and refresh rates for the X1900/ATi cards. I hated being stuck at 60 hz with my Dell 2005fpw and now I finally am able to set it back to 75 hz for gaming

What are the consequences of forcing a LCD at a higher res than intended? or can the 2005FPW handle 75hz at native res?

75 hz is a supported refresh rate for the Dell 2005 FPW. For me I've found that using 75 hz results in smoother and more responsive mouse movement during FPS gaming. This is especially important in games like BF2. Now don't get this confused with monitor response time because that's not what I'm talking about. Also it reduces tearing as well when I run it at 75 hz since I never use vsync. There's a thread on this subject I made in the display forum at HardOCP last year but their forums are down right now so I can't link to it. I'll post the link later when it's back up.

This isn't specifically for Dell 2005 FPW monitors either, it is for any LCD display that can support 75 hz at it's native resolution. ATi drivers don't allow for custom refresh rates and up till now, PowerStrip didn't have support for X1900 cards so we were all forced to use 60 hz.

Off the dell site:
Max Resolution: 1920x1200 (WUXGA)
Max Sync Rate (V x H): 76 Hz x 81 kHz

I do notice tearing the BF2 and CS:S also. It's not bad but I rather it go away, if given the option.

Mine runs at 81 kHZ horizontal, 75 Hz vertical and works fine. Just note that Dell claims 60 hz is the only refresh rate allowed at native resolution for my monitor even though its specs support a higher refresh rate. You should make sure the 2405 can handle it before trying, I wouldn't want to be responsible for any damage that happens to your display.
