Did you check the prices with the ADC discount. :D

What's the ADC discount?

Apple Developer Connection. If you are a student you can pay $100 for a one year subscription where you will get programming info, tutorials, software, etc. You also get one copy of OSX, plus you will recieve another copy if they upgrade to 10.4 during your subscription. You are also allowed one major and a few minor hardware purchases. I bought a 12" PB loaded for $1400 a couple of years ago. :D I ended up selling both copies of Panther and Jaguar, along with all of the stuff they sent (not including the Tshirt) on ebay for something like $200.

How much of a discount is it off the regular education price?

Seriously, but don't forget you have to spend $100 first on the ADC membership as I understand it.

That still makes it $100 cheaper than EDU discount, plus all kinds of free stuff.

$1700 for a laptop? Sorry, I'll take a comperably-equipped Compaq A64 laptop for $500 less (Or my own branded slightly-lesser-equipped for $600 less)

You can have your compaq, but when it comes to laptops nothing compares to the prettiness and elegance of a powerbook. I wish I had one, although I'm content with my Thinkpad.

Yeah, rumor has it the G5 powerbooks "may" appear sometime in Q2. I doubt they ship till Q3 if then. IBM has managed to get the power requirments of the G5 down to were it can be used in a notebook.

Once there is a G5 12" PowerBook. Im getting one, and probably ditching PCs for daily(home) use. I find myself not playing video games anymore, and nothing in its class(PC counterparts) beats the 12" PowerBook IMHO.

Compaq doesn't make a comparable laptop (one with a 15" screen and 1" thickness). You're bullshit company that you keep plugging on these forums doesn't either so STFU.

If I really wanted a PC, I'd recommend for thinkpad without a doubt. Otherwise, PBs and iBooks do a very good job at what they do.... The only reason I have a PC is because I am poor and I want to play games :)
