If you're driving a Honda Civic or something that can mix in with the crowd, mabe you could hide from the cops, but there ain't a lot of Australian GTO on the road. You can outrun the Vic, but you can't out run the radio.Originally posted by: Nebor

Maybe the driver didn't want to seen on TV being chased by police choppers.Originally posted by: Nebor
Tiles2tech... the cop is lucky the Pontiac stopped.Coulda dusted the ol' crown vic.
. Besides, in a case like this, where that GTO could have jumped from 75-140 (or whatever it's governed at) before the cop could go from 75 to 100, he could have been out of sign and off an exit.
People seem to think it's impossible to get away from a cop. It's not. Once you have a full fledged police chase going on, then it's hard to get away. But if you can get away before they get your license plate, you're golden.
That depends on where the cops are.Originally posted by: Pocatello

Roger that. I've dusted plenty of cops before. As long as you have options, they can't get you. So a cop pulls out behind you while you're going 80mph. You step on it, up to 120mph, leave him behind. He can't see you, he can only guess as to what turn\exit you'll take. His odds aren't good that he can get someone to the right place in time.Originally posted by: WinkOsmosis

The police chopper for the county I live in is actually launched in an area about 4 miles from where the GTO is pulled over. If needed, the chopper could have gotten up in the air and into action.Originally posted by: Nebor

Guess you were not around to see the old GTO's huh? they were not exactly a pocket rocket or a pony car.Originally posted by: jeffrey
The car is a lead-sled.
How can you build a "sports car" with 2004 technology and not get the weight below 3725 pounds?
The new GTO weighs over 3700 pounds!!
