I also had all my subscriptions messed up...I have not gotten a notification since the change. Also, I miss being able to click "done" with the PM and it goes away on its own. That was handy and more efficient in my opinion.

I agree - Seems less efficient now, but I guess we'll just deal with it.

Will take some getting used to, but oh well...

EDIT: Is there any way to view All by default as opposed to going directly to the Inbox? That's much more like the old style I think.

The first thing I noticed (or didn't) was the PM message count. Don't see it anywhere... non-subscriber vs. subscriber PM max-count is still in effect right ?

I really dont get these "view all" comments, the inbox is ALL of your pms, then you move them where you want them, the alphabet then allows you to filter down to conversations with a particular user.

Clicking ALL is nice because it gives a view similar to the old PM system, without having to look at EVERYTHING in your inbox.

I also noticed while trying to move a conversation between myself and minendo to a folder named "minendo" that it only moved the messages from him. I tried to move the messages that I sent to him to that folder, but it didn't move them. Any ideas on this?

The problem is the main PM page displays recently recieved messages but doesn't group them by member. For example, if you have 20 messages from MemberX and maybe 3 messages from Member1, its all thrown in by time recieved. For Example:

MemberX - Message - Time - Read - Delete
MemberX - Message - Time - Read - Delete
MemberX - Message - Time - Read - Delete
MemberX - Message - Time - Read - Delete
Member1- Message - Time - Read - Delete
MemberX - Message - Time - Read - Delete
MemberX - Message - Time - Read - Delete
Member1 - Message - Time - Read - Delete

And the pattern continues. As far as clicking "Read", it only shows you the single message, not the complete history like it did before. The features are nice, its just the index organization is a little flaky. Instead of clicking on the member name and having the profile pop up, you should be able to see your history with that member. Instead, you have to click "Read" then "View History".

If you need pictures for a better understanding, let me know...

:) I like that Idea, one suggestion I have is to move the read and delete to the other side of the screen (from the right side, to the left side) where they are is a bit akward for me.

Any chance of a tree view (e.g. all posts from one user shown as an expandable tree instead of the intermix we have now?)

That would be very handy.

Also glad to hear that delete by date is coming back, that's how I managed my count. Always tried to keep one month worth saved & nuke everything older.

The view that the "all" selection gives you shows just the users names and allows you to view just their history the way the older version showed them. That way you can see only the messages from one specific user. It also shows the full messages rather than just a few lines which is what it shows by default now. Both show all of the messages but when you select it to show "all" it makes it easier to find what you want.

I don't think that it should be changed for everyone but I do wish there was a way to set which way you want it to show you the messages. That way people can choose how they want to see the PMs.

I think we're staying as is now its working, and future items can be dealt with down the road, we're just ironing bugs out and major issues, this is a want for later. We appreciate the feedback, we've added in what we think were major missing features (Delete by date) and a couple of other issues. We have to prepare for release in 3 weeks so we aren't making any more major changes.

Thanks

uhhggg ive spent the last 20 min playing with the new PM system
i think i totally agree with THUGSROOK its very inefficient

having all the PM's listed in chronological order kinda sucks... i would much rather have them grouped by user name

i also hate how if you click on "read" it only shows the one message instead of the PM history for that person

I thought that was a problem too, till I figured out what Zuni is saying right above me.
Let say you have a trade going with viper. He sends you a new mail, so you click on the "V" in alphabetical listings. bingo, you have the messages just like before. You click one more time on viper, and it looks exactly like it did before. It is two more steps, but not a deal breaker, IMO.

A request:
Since I have let my subscription go, I have relied on the message count meter to keep my pm's below 100. With that gone, I have no idea how many pm's I gotta go through and weed, copy, save, whatever, to remain below 100.
Can that be fixed, Zuni? Or is the total message count somewhere there, and am I too blind to see it?:D
