bought my pn58c8000 in JULY, the samsung 7.1 surround sound w/ 3d blu ray player and 4 pairs of rechargable glasses. Needless to say, I spent a pretty penny. After 2 months of ownership, while cleaning the screen, I noticed a row of dead cells. Got my magnifying glass & noticed that in fact 2 cells were dead a red and a green. which made it look like 4 cells were dead due to the 2 blue pixels on the side of the 2 dead ones. I am not calling them pixels because someone @ samsung tech said plasmas dont technically have pixels but individual cells.
Anyway, I had it replaced which took 6 weeks due to the many trips from the tech. 1st he had to come identify the issue, 2nd he had to order the part to my house (which was the entire internal display component) 3rd he had to come install said part.
Upon finalization of the install he inspected the screen and guess what? The new part also had a Bright PINK cell on the opposite side of the screen. WTF? anyway he said that the Samsung customer relations department would now contact me soon about our next plan of action. 8 weeks past & now the tv, for some odd reason not related to the PIXEL, gets black for a second w/ audio playing when it recovers all my settings are reset!! it is so ridicilous! this happens every 15 min, i have to change the brightness, sharpness, color, advanced settings, etc.. it really sucks.
Finally contacted Samsung myself after being forgot about by customer relations 3 weeks ago. They approved me for a TV replacement with a new tv, which took 5 days for the approval. Now I have been waiting for the "exchange dept" to call me which is apparently doesn't directly correspond with eachother expect through email. It had been 3 days waiting for them. Then once I accept the product that they have available it will take another 7-14 business days to get my new tv.
Kind of really been a crappy situation with this tv. Samsung will offer me the same or better. I was thinking of getting a LED version but dont want to lose out on the FULL HD 3D effect or screen size (only 55in LED in price range). I love my tv when it was working fine, but now i"m afraid of this model DUE TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF DEAD CELLS and my personal experience w/ 2 faulty pannels. what to do, what to do???
