Got my results back from a shoot last month with Joseph Mannaa.

I'm not 100% happy the with results, but it was our first time working together and he's working on building his portfolio. Here are some samples... I'm not sure if I want to work with him again, and think my shoot with another photographer produced better results (will have those by next week).

For those with photography experience or just a keen eye, what do you think about the quality of the pics/lighting/etc.? Would you suggest working with him again? And which pics, if any, are the best/worst in terms of quality for a headshot?

For those who don't like my pic threads... nobody asked you to click in the first place, and I haven't posted any pics since Halloween. So... smile, don't have a cow, and enjoy the new year. :):p

Schoolgirl

Fuzzy b&w headshot

Heavily photoshopped red shot (not sure what he did, but I don't really like the effect)

Mean

Just a bodyshot, I have a stupid expression on my face so I replaced it with something mroe aestetically pleasing

Headshot smile

Headshot smile in b&w

Hair back smile

Hairback smile b&w

Business suit smile

High school principal picture

Just for fun

Beach headshot/beanie

Beach profile, unfortunately the sun went away and we lost all light

Tired and kinda pissed there was no more light (too much time spent in studio)

Thanks in advance for your opinions. Constructive criticism appreciated.

EDIT, 1/5/2004:

Good grief.

I had to leave for a meetup with an ATOT friend shortly after posting the thread (and coincidentally, bumped into another ATOT-er who valet-ed my car ) and enjoyed the rest of my weekend. Didn't have a chance to check in until now... may sift through the posts when I have time, but overall sentiment is...

I agree, after reviewing the rest of the pics I'm pretty disappointed with the results. I was paid for my time, so the photographer could get some more experience and add to his portfolio. The pics are a bit off in terms of lighting, overall quality, creativity, etc... and they also suffer from a bit of stiffness on my end, which I need to work on (facial expressions, body positioning, etc.).

I do appreciate those who were kind enough to offer constructive criticism and tips... I'll definitely be taking those into consideration for next time. When I said "If you have issues w/my pics, don't click", I didn't mean "only come in if you're going to kiss my flat Asian ass". I meant, please avoid starting a flame war... which was pretty naive on my end, as the haters always feel the need to voice their opinion. No problem with that, you're entitled to it... just know that I do my best to help out and give what honest/helpful advice I can around here, and I believe I contribute positively to the forums. I haven't posted a pic thread in a long, long time... and there have been innumerable ones from other members (oldsmoboat's daughter, etc. etc.).

The compliments are kind and flattering, but I don't post for a superficial ego boost... if I wanted one of those, I'd go out to a club. I come here because there are talented, intelligent, kind individuals around... many of whom I consider friends, through PM's and in-person encounters. I do my best to help out, and I appreciate whatever help is given to me. I won't apologize for that.

To my knowledge, nobody who has met me in person at any of the meets I've attended/thrown has found me to be incredbly dislikable. When you give me a chance, I'm really not so bad.

I suggest all the people out there who harbor an unhealthy amount of ill-will towards a complete stranger to take a deep breath, go out, and live a little, as opposed to focusing their energies and attention towards making a stranger out in cyberworld's life unhappy. I see no point in "hating/going out of your way to hate" people, especially those you don't know... even for those who "hate" celebrities such as J. Lo, Justin Timberlake, Eminem, whoever... it's kinda pointless, don't you think? Take your energy and invest it in something positive and beautiful, instead of wasting precious minutes of your life typing out hateful messages.

I would rather experience a life filled primarily with happiness, clarity, and joy than one of anger, ugliness, and blind hate.

Wouldn't you?

Happy new year, all. Thanks for the replies. Mods, if you feel this has gotten out of hand, please lock... and if you'd like me to refrain from posting such threads in the future, please let me know and I'll respectfully comply.

Absolutely Stunning!!!

Very nice resolution, good focus...etc, ect.

I think it would be hard to get pics of you that didn't turn out simply adorable. The trick is to make peeps look better than you are. You are simply gorgeous!!

Nice, thanks for sharing!

I'm sure all the regulars will be behaving as one would expect.

I'm not a professional, but I can offer you my opinion. They look fine as far as pics go, but they lack something if they're modelling pics. More fun with lighting and color and perhaps even scenery. A couple of them start to go that way, but don't really run with it.

schoolgirl - nice the glare isnt 2 bad on the lens

Fuzzy BW your eyes look funny, kinda crossed.

Red - horrible pic

mean - didn't like it, doesn't suit you looks kinda cheap.

bodyshot - looks kinda cheap

head - the lighting on your lips and cheek is really glossy, don't really like it

hairback - lighting is kinda weird again imo, BW looks nice though

principal - average picture nothing really stood out to me it was't a 'nice' pic either.

fun - hrm something about this pic that is weird but idk what it is.

beach - nice pic

b profile - avg pic

The only problem in most of those pictures, generally speaking, is the lighting, really. So much more could be done, or so much could be done differently -- I'm thinking of the B&W fuzzy hat there and that fence/vines picture off the top of my head. Otherwise, looking good.

Sorry, I'm not up to critiquing each example... I had to do too much of that in school. :p

Thank you all kindly for the positive reviews so far... I was going more for "cute" than "sexy", I think. I'm off for the night, but any constructive criticism would be much appreciated... have a beautiful evening, and thanks again for the feedback.:)

He must have used a TON of Photochop on you!

Just kidding. :D

Looks good. For some reason, some of the pics do not look like the same photographer. Some are extremely good and some look like your mom took them with a throw away camera. BTW, I am judging the photographer, not the subject. You look great though.

I'm not a pro photographer, but I've seen some of my friends get professional pictures taken... the pictures were nice, but if you had to pay for those, I'd say you should expect better stuff done.

You are smokin' hot!

I'll just agree that the "heavilly photochopped red shot" looks very amateurish and the color is kinda over-saturated?

I don't know jack about photography but the schoolgirl pic is the best. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a girl in stockings. ;)

The schoolgirl pic bothers me for some reason. I think it's because to me it's a picture that doesn't know where it wants to go. You're wearing a schoolgirl outfit with the nylons, but you're not striking a "sexy" pose. In fact, I'm not really sure what's up with the pose. Also, the glasses say "office/business" to me more than school.

Not that you're not good-looking... :)

huh. i never noticed it from the... one... ghetto pic i saw... but you look remarkably like one of my friends, just older.

imo this photographer is nothing special. the sun was going down and no sunset shots? :| beh. some of the beach shots look promising, but everything else seems pretty ordinary.

I don't either, but ya look like Tera Patrick in that shot

Mean

not sure if you can use this shot

Just a bodyshot, I have a stupid expression on my face so I replaced it with something mroe aestetically pleasing

body shot looks good, should let us see what's behind the smiley face :)

Headshot smile

don't really care for that smile, might need to work on it

Headshot smile in b&w

same as above

Hair back smile

don't like the hair...again with the smile...

Hairback smile b&w

same as above

Business suit smile

I like this shot, but I don't think you can use it professionally

High school principal picture

again, nice shot, but don't see a use for it. fun pic tho

Just for fun

I have mixed feeling about this one...

Beach headshot/beanie

are you mad at something?

Beach profile, unfortunately the sun went away and we lost all light

as you said, too dark, bad pic

Tired and kinda pissed there was no more light (too much time spent in studio)

again, who pissed ya off?

Overall, I think the pics are fine for personal use, but lack a certain something to be considered professional. Sometimes it's the lighting, sometimes I think it's the model. Keep working at it and good luck!

Who had problems with your pics last time? I want to personally beat their face in.

That first pic is probably the best of the set I think.

Some people used to claim that HappyKitten only posted pictures because she was egotistical and dredging for comments from lonely, horny atoters.

IMHO, it's time to clear out some mess with another Thunderbooty.
