Obviously 1 piano = 1 screen duh...

However

not really. what i meant was that one foot is always free to trigger a page turn, so no fancy microphone with music analyser is required. if you knew anything about piano you wouldn't have overcomplicated your idea from the start.

one screen.. duh.:p actually two would be better since we ussually leave two to 3 sheets out at once. or a wide screen.

and really.. at recitals most students are required to memorize their music. so its a moot point.

I never said anything about a complicated mic thing to turn the pages....
I said to buy the right software...learn to play the songs at the proper tempo using a melindrome...the timing turns the pages for you.
since the pages turn for you...you dont need two or three pages at one time on the screen, nor do you need two screens or a wide screen. Oh and BTW...(no foot required for my method either)

if you knew anything about piano you wouldn't have overcomplicated your idea from the start.
I've been playing the piano since 1985...I know plenty about playing the piano.

Once again...let me insist, I didnt design the system for a damn piano. I designed it for an entire orchestra / high school
band & chorus concert.

you realize that you responded to my posts as if it were directed to you. it was for the thread poster, which led me to think you were him.

If were working with keyboards rather than pianos, it would be simpler to simply register what keys have been pressed rather than a metronome system. You could also do funky stuff like highlight when the timing was off (blue for too slow, red for too quick?) etc.

Why not just a backlit monochrome LCD display /w SM/SD/CF slot for music storage?

The problem with the tempo-based automated page turning is that a lot of pieces have varying tempos.

You'd need a screen able to rotate to allow for different aspect ratios - some pieces use music in portrait mode, some in landscape. The problems I see are: Repeats - You'd need to be able to turn back several pages at once for repeats in the music. Markings - you'd need a very good touchscreen to allow additions to be made during rehearsals. Resolution - Sitting here looking at the sheet music for a rather dense chunk of Rachmaninoff, it's nowhere as easy to read as properly printed sheet music.

It's not a bad idea, it's just that the implementation would be <very> expensive compared to just using the sheet music and any places rich enough to afford it would likely be used by people who play from memory anyway.

That said, as an organist it would be very handy - I frequently need 7 or 8 books during the course of a service and having them scanned in for use in the correct order would be useful.
