New photoshop build for cheap

I am looking to build a cheap photoshop build that is easily upgradeable. I would love to get it at or around $200, but will spend up to $300.


1. What YOUR PC will be used for. Photoshop, internet, office apps.

2. What YOUR budget is. $200-$300

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from. America

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. Nope

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are. I have a monitor and 80GB SATA Hard Drive

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads. Yes

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds. I will be fine overclocking if I can without purchasing an expensive cooler

8. WHEN do you plan to build it? End of December

I would like at least 4GB of RAM, a motherboard that supports Quad Core, but I only want to purchase a Dual Core right now and then upgrade to Quad later on.

Add mouse, keyboard. Case/psu is really up to you, that one looked alright.

I guess you need an OS also, I don't even know what XP costs these days, less than 100 I assume?

Am I missing anything? That took like 10 minutes to find, so I'm sure with a little searching you can do
a little better or cheeaper. But damn.. pretty nice.

Need a dvd-rw drive also, sue me, you get the idea
 
CPU cache does very little for Photoshop as do multiple cores beyond 2 so go for max speed regardless of which cpu family you choose. Max out RAM and have at least two physical drives and put the scratch disk on the second one.

It's my understanding that is true for PS CS3....not CS4; more and more multi-threading apps will be written to take advantage of increased cores, so if you want to future-proof your system to some extent, 4 cores is the way to go.
