Alright guys, I'm in the market for a new phone and in all honesty there's so much out there that I'm worried I'll be paying for much more than I need if I don't ask.

Right now I have a cingular 3125 smartphone which does what I want but was designed poorly.

What I want is the ability to sync contacts with my computer in some way. It doesn't HAVE to use outlook like the windows smartphones do, I just want to always have my contacts backed up on my PC.

I'd also want the ability for custom ringtones. Most phones do this, even the non-smartphones. My sister's sony ericsson W580i does it as does all windows smartphones and I believe all modern blackberrys.

I don't care for internet ability or email. If it's on it I won't use it so don't worry about that.

What does everybody suggest?

cliffs:
phone wants:
-sync contacts on PC
-custom ringtones through mp3 or the likes
-internet/email NOT important

Like you said all available Blackberrys will do what you want, just get it on a plan that doesn't have data.

The Treo 650 is a bit big for my tastes. I want more of a normal phone form factor. I'll probably just go with the Blackberry Pearl.

Idk,, Sounds like everyone else asking for a new phone, who looks for justification of getting an I-phone. LOLs

Well, if price isn't an issue which I couldn't understand how it possibly would be since T-mobile has 400 dollars cash back. But right, so if price is not an issue, Iphone perfect.
AND DON"T EVEN consider for a moment that Unlocking will be difficult. YOU CLICK ONE BUTTON. ONEEEE on ur computer. And you're done. and it can be "Virginalized" as in restored to original configuration where the Store reps will not be able to tell that you unlocked it, just incase you're worried about warrenty

Well I'm on cingular and in the middle of a contract so there's no way I'd be able to get an iphone for that cheap. I text by touch as well which is impossible on the iphone.

Alright I picked up the blackberry pearl. Pretty nice phone, but the buttons are damn tiny. And this qwerty style on a phone is taking some getting used to.

I have the Sprint Mogul, I think Cingular has a similar phone called the Tilt. Runs Windows Mobile 6 and tons of free apps. Oh yeah, you can sync your contacts/calendar too, even wireless via bluetooth. I love my Mogul
