Well some people feel pretty strongly about TouchWiz. TBH to see how it cripples a GS3 is pretty disappointing.

Its a different story with 2.3ghz quad core CPUs with a strong GPU and 2GB memory on board. Of course it is a bit more refined over what was on the GS3

You get the moto x which is better than the N5 and S5. Even the upcoming moto g LTE is better.

You get the s5 only if you want the samsung touchwiz and its gimmicks.

I mean I could say the Droid Bionic is better than the N5 and S5 but it doesn't make it true or less than laughable. The Moto X is comparable to the Nexus 4 at best. N5 handily outclasses it, S5 even more so but you know that.

More likely the N4 to Moto G, but the moto g still comes on top with a better build quality. The Moto X is superior every way to the N5. The N5 only advantage is the LCD display and better spec. That's it. Everything else goes to the Moto X.

Nexus 5.It's an awesome phone and u would like it more than Samsung S5 for sure.

How so? As I said touchwiz on the s5 is very good actually, not like before. Also the battery life is better on the s5. So besides root, what is better?

You're not slowed down by bloat. But, if you like touchwiz and don't mind being on a contract or spending stupid money to buy the phone outright, then the S5 is a better choice.

slowed down by bloat? The GS5 is faster than the N5 even with touchwiz. http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Samsung-Galaxy-S5-vs-Google-Nexus-5_id3643/page/2
I never said I liked touchwiz per se. I said it isn't as bad as before and doesn't detract from the device in usage. Liking an OS with no frills is not the a measure of performance. It's just preference and while I do like the AOSP android experience and look, touchwiz isn't that bad on the GS5 and the device has the better specs and such. I thought someone would mention call quality or something relevant.

Theoretical benchmarks don't mean much though. Most phones will dedicate most of their resources to running the benchmark and the bloat goes on hold while benchmarks are running. Bloat makes the overall feel of the phone feel worse. More dropped frames, choppier animations, etc.

Granted I'll admit the GS5 really improves on the bloat from say the GS3 and GS4 where the phones just felt slow.

The phone isn't slow though, I said that after I used one. Nothing feels slow at all, this bloat is nonsense and a relic of the past when we didn't have quad core CPUs in these things IMO anymore.

i have the nexus 5 and left it from the s4. partly because of nakie android and partly cause i was done with AMOLED screens outdoors in bright sunlight otherwise would have had a moto x over n5.

i want fast updates to Android. period. played with the s5, it's very fast. so taht won't be an issue. but what a little bit to see if there are Google Play versions released for the S5 and new HTC One. that would give you the latest top end hardware with vanilla android.

The GS4 also had quad core and it felt slow because of the bloat. The bloat is even worse today because Samsung keeps added more gunk to get you to stay in their ecosystem.

Look, the GS5 is bloaty but if you're defending it then it seems like you've already made your choice. No need to continue this.

Have you used it? It isn't slow...
Some of you guys act exactly the same as apple haters.

I wanted real experienced opinions and all I get from some of you guys is "Samsung sucks because their old phones were slow because of bloated touchwiz." That has absolutely nothing to do with the s5, at all.

Not a bad idea too. Also I have been looking at the LG G3 this morning too and will not be buying anything until next month anyway so I can see what they have in store on May 27. Apparently they have a conference scheduled where they are expected to announce the g3.

Yes, I've used it. Compared with other 2014 flagships it feels slow. That will only get worse with time because of the bloat.

yah mon. you said budget was not an issue so a GPlay Developer edition would be one sick phone.

i wish samsung would stop upping the megapixel count on it's cameras. more pixels crammed onto small sensors = more noise in lower light shots. they should stick to something 8-10mp, enlarging the sensor and working on better low light performance.
