I saw the Tool thread and thought what the heck..

Pearl Jam is alot better group and their new CD was just released and you can get it for $9.99 at BB.

I have it and it is some of their best work they done, if not THE best IMO.

I have been a fan since the beginning...

Sorry to be negative here, but I would sample the album on iTunes or elsewhere first. I was disappointed with this newest release.

Can you be a little more specific on why you were disappointed?

The first 5 songs on the album completely rock. Great lyrics... that actually have meaning...

WorldWide Suicide is a stand out
Marker in the Sand
Severed Hand
Comatose
Life Wasted
Gone

All top notch!!!

Pearl Jam has combined a new sound with their old sound and the results are spectacular.

After listening a few more times, I am finding more and more about this album that just stands out..

It 1000% better than most of the stuff out there today.. PJ doesnt sing about what they are going to do with the hot girl tonight.. they sing about life and things that are relevant..

PJ is just like fine wine.. the older they get, the better they become and this album is proof.

I think most diehard Pearl Jam fans, like myself, really find that their albums grow on you the more you listen to it. I remember getting Riot Act the day it hit stands and I was disappointed with the majority of it. And I can say now that it's one of my favorite albums by them. Only a couple of their albums have blown me away right out of the gates but they've yet to release one that I didn't grow to love at some point.

HEY, HEY, HEY!!!!! Whoa. Take a deep breath buddy. I am a Pearl Jam fan from the beginning also, but don't disparage Tool.

They are totally different bands. Tool is my favorite all time band followed by Pearl Jam. Just praise the Pearl Jam and if you don't have anything nice to say about Tool, don't.

BTW - Went to CC to pick up both albums and the drone at CC told me they had on 12 copies of the new Pearl Jam. What the $^#%. Now I have to hunt down the PJ album.

The part about PJ being a better band is what got me perturbed.

I guess technically you did not say anything negative, but you did diss Tool to promote PJ.

So I guess I am sorry ........

that you think PJ is a better band than Tool. 😛

Why are we even mentioning Tool and PJ in the same thread? I enjoy both (yes, PJ a lot more) but they're two entirely different bands. I meant to go by BB to get a copy on Tuesday but I haven't had a chance. Hoping to go today considering this is the longest I've waited to get a PJ CD after release.

So it's worth the $10 huh? It's a mix of old and new? I enjoyed Ten a whole lot. How would you rank it compared to Ten? (I know you're ranking will be different than mine, but I'd still like to know)

I'm failing to see how that is different from you saying that Tool is a better band.

TOOL and PJ, Apple and Oranges, can't really compare the two, both are different bands. I love both, and and I love both CD's. Eventhough I do enjoy the artwork on TOOL's CD a lot better, but as for the music itself, PJ did a good job on this album. I don't think it's thier best but it's still a great album!

Yeah I'd say it's worth the $10. I don't know if I would rank it nearly as high as Ten or Vs., but I've only listened to it once so far. But I was pleased with it overall.

Speaking of TOOL vs PJ... has anyone checked out the new Jewel album? It's excellent. Seriously. 😀

Don't get rational in my purely visceral argument. 🙂

I did not say Tool was a better band, just that they were my favorite band followed by PJ. My issue was this thread was based on the Tool thread and the OP stated that PJ was the better band.

I just ordered the PJ disc from BB.com since I did not want to use my precious gas on hiking out to Best Buy to buy it in person. I hope I like the PJ as much as I like 10000 days.

Peace.

My thread was not based ON Tool but on PJ, it was created because of the Tool thread.. big difference!! 🙂

I hope you like the CD too!! Let us know!!

Ordered the Pearl Jam disc from the Ten Club last month and received it 5 days ago! 😎 Oh, and tomorrow morning I'm buying tickets for June 29th and June 30th where I will be entertained for two days in a row of PJ, with co-headliner Tom Petty. Ah yes, 😎 indeed.

Last but not least, I just finished watching PJ perform on Letterman. I guess you could say I can't get enough PJ at the moment.

Yeah, it's not as great as Ten, but I still enjoy it. It has more of a mellow sound to it compared to the Ten album. I'm bu no means an expert; I just like what I like. Not bad though.

Tool & PJ released the same day I believe. That's why they are being compared. Since others are doing it, I will chime in. So far I don't even remotely like the new PJ album. I am hoping it gets better the more I listen to it. But so far it just sounds like a bunch of guitar mashing and weak vocals to me. The Tool CD was much more impressive on first listen.

Still $10 is a good deal and PJ fans should decide for themselves.

Big PJ and Tool fan here. IMHO - this is PJ's worse album to date. Very disappointed, especially with all of the time off. Maybe, they're going in a different direction or wanted a different sound.

I still remember back in '91 when Ten just came out before they became huge, PJ played at my university's campus center auditorium which fit maybe several hundred people. The most amazing live rock experience ever...
