Ooops. Sorry for my mistake. Here is a good link ---> http://www.pcandparts.com/price.htm

Link to the Intel® Desktop Board DP45SG

I guess the first question to ask is what do you wish to do with the computer? Gaming? Create Videos?

I'm not certain putting two sticks of DDR3-1333 in that motherboard will give you the performance you are looking for. The mobo has 2 PCIe x16 slots suitable for Crossfire but you may not Crossfire with a Geforce video card.

The Asus P5Q SE looks like a bargain and you may install 4Gb of DDR2 800 for a savings of $60.

If gaming is your intention the e8400 will save you $106. For video work the Q8200 will save you $97 over the Q9550 or even the Q6600 ($84 savings) which should overclock well (as will the e8400) but will run warmer.

The best deal from a cost standpoint is the Point Of View Geforce 9800GTX+ 1GB w/TV for $209 though I am not familiar with that brand. The best overall performer for the price may be the Sapphire HD4870 1GB DDR5 w/TV for $336.

Not sure what to tell you about the power supply - do you have to have a supplemental power supply for the video card?

Well im getting it for gaming .
whats wrong with the DDR3?? why it wouldnt give me better performance?? i thought theyr better than DDR2 .
and what is a crossfire?
im looking to keep this pc for 4 and more years so the E8400 wouldnt be good in a year or two for games , and i do not overclock .
isnt the HD4870 made for video creating??? and normally the geforce are made for gaming?
about the psu for vga i posted about it .
PowerSupply For Geforce: Thermaltake W0099RE 250W PSU For VGA Only - 75$

With the money you save - - - in a year or two you should be able to purchase a faster and more capable microprocessor at a reduced cost.

I'm guessing that the Kingston DDR3 has a CAS latency of 9 and the Kingston DDR2 has a CAS latency of 5. The DDR3 has greater speed and bandwidth that ""generally"" cancels out the difference in latency (most likely computes to 11-12 nanoseconds for both) - and will give the DDR3 a little better performance. Is it worth twice the cost? No.

Look at it this way - from a price standpoint 8Gb of DDR2 800 will be superior in performance to 4Gb DDR3 1333.

You may be confusing the FSB/RAM speed. With Intel the FSB is "quad pumped" so a 333MHz FSB x 4 = 1333MHz. The RAM speed is "double pumped" so a 333MHz FSB x 2 = 667MHz. Now ....

It is a crime in the USA not to overclock an e8400 with an Asus P5Q and DDR2 800 :D Lookee here --->>>

400MHz FSB x 'double-pumped memory' = 800MHz RAMs ----400MHz FSB x cpu multiplier *9* = 3.6GHz cpu speed

It is a simple and painless process with which the folks at AT would love to help you.

And the Sapphire HD 4870 is a great video card. May well top the 9800gtx 20-25% (don't want to start a flame war - LOL) and compares really well to the Geforce 260.

'Crossfire' is when you combine 2 video cards to function as one to improve gaming performance.

ok im going back to ddr2 again :p
im staying on my 2.83 quad
about overclocking , my warranty would go
plus i would need cooling and bigger psu etc.. and i have no idea about it.
now im trapped somewhere
im confused between the 20inch lg w2042s
and the 22 inch w2242t screen
iv read that the 22 inch has some minor colour banding and some contrast issues , is that bad?

and why r u going for a 260 card go for a 4870(cheaper than a 260 in my country

and dont trust the intel stock fans
for overclocking go for a xigmatex s1283

if i overclock i lose my warranty+shorter lifetime+needs lot of more money
and i only trust nvidia when it comes to graphics

All chips will die eventually, and overclocking while staying within the bounds of the stock voltage = more performance + same lifespan, my Q6600 is running at 3.2 on stock (or close to it, I forgot what the stock is frankly). The only reason I'd support you opting for an nVidia card as opposed to ATI would be the vendors (unless you get an XFX Radeon, very nice warranty imo).

The Intel stock fans are perfectly fine as long as your ambients are outrageously high and there's proper airflow allowed in the case, and while you may not be looking to overclock, there are cheaper and more stable boards out there that have the option to allow you to overclock should you wish to try it in the future.

well people here are obsessed wid overclocking dunno why o_O
at the very beginning of the learning curve you will only see the negative side of the thing
trust me there is nothing wrong in overclocking(even warranty wise, i guess, cause i have personnally got my motherboard RMA after a overclock session, i dont think there is any way through which they can prove that you have overclocked you re parts except for gpus ..:p)
and it seems to me that you re a nvidia fanboy(so what, its not a crime)
but think about it you have a better card for almost the same cost as yours (crossfire + board cost)
i recommend you go for a gigabyte p45 board + a 4850x2 (or two for that matter)
you will save huge bucks..
or you could wait like me till the prices of core i7 drop
and WHY do u have A s1283 and not overclocking wid it ??

You don't void the motherboard's warranty by overclocking last I checked, it's the cpu that they won't rma if there's signs that you overclocked it to death, which they CAN identify via voltage problems.

And the 260 the OP chose is just fine, it has a TV tuner as well, and I almost never support a CF or SLI solution due to scaling issues (even though they have progressively been getting better).

OP: You don't need such expensive ram if you aren't going to be overclocking the system.
