New PC

I am new to this forum.
I just finished building a new PC and need some troubleshooting advise.
Specs:
Motherboard-Soltek SL-75FRN2-RL
Processor-AMD Athlon XP 3200+
Harddrive-WD Caviar WD1200JD SATA interface

All of the hardware seems to be working; however every attempt to install Windows XP Professional has resulted in numerous "Stop" errors. I have installed the harddrive from my previous system and attempted to load XP. After several tries, I was able to comlete the installation. While checking for Windows Updates I received several more "Stop" errors but with great persistence was finally able to install SP2.

Now every time I boot the system I get kicked out of windows. Sometimes the system restarts and sometimes I get more "Stop" messages.

If anyone can tell me how to troubleshoot what I think is a hardware problem I would be eternally grateful.
