Some of you may have seen my posts regarding problems with monitors. Well, I may have found the problem. My speakers are nearly 5 years old and I don't think they have magnetic shield protection or whatever. The magnetic field may be what's messing with my monitors.

I would like some input from you all regarding some new speakers. I play games and listen to mp3's, and I want it to sound good, but I only have room for two speakers. Seems like most of the reviews and guides I've seen only deal with these hundred dollar, 5 speaker systems, and I'm not interested in that. So would any of you please suggest some quality two-speaker sets? I'll be grateful for any input.
 
If you have room for a subwoofer as well, I would recommend the ATP3s. Buy.com has them for $49.99 shipped after a $30 rebate here. I recently purchased these speakers at officemax.com and am hoping the same rebate will work for them (it says it is good for speakers purchased at OfficeMax stores in the restrictions). I also used a $25 off $100 coupon for first time buyers to lower the price to $24.99 + taxes after an additional $20.01+ purchase. There is free next-day shipping for orders over $50. However, I have not heard back on whether or not the rebate will work, so don't take my word for it .. I am surprised that it is not posted on their site if it does. These speakers are good quality though and very sexy 🙂, as well as the satelites being nice and small. The satelites are shielded, but the subwoofer still is not. It is best if it is placed on the ground anyway. I also own a 4.1 set of speakers and honestly don't think they add a whole lot to the gaming experience. Most anything would probably be an improvement over speakers that old though. Just take a look at speaker reviews and such online. The Logitech Z-340s seem to be fairly popular as well. I would guess most of the other Altec Lansing speakers are high quality, and I also like Labtec speakers.

If you want high quality, the Klipsch Pro-Media 2.1 are absolutely fantastic, but so is the price. In my limited experience with speakers...you get what you pay for.

he is right, you do get what you pay for, and in the klipsch case you get a brand name... and some way over-priced speakers. they usually cost around $199 and are just not worth it when you can get the logitech z-560's for $140ish. but that is totally not what you are asking...

I would look at those ATP3's as I have heard good things about them, but my reccomendation would be the logitech z-340's. You can pick them up for like $30-40 (sometimes cheaper) and they sound pretty darn good. No, you will not be able to blast out a room like you could with the z-560's or the klipsch's, but they are more than enough for your gaming, mp3's listening, and general computer needs. And for that price... you just can't go wrong (not to mention the cool blue LED on one of the speakers 🙂 )

Anyway, thats just all my opinion, the best way is to try them out for yourself. good luck
