New PC setup

Hi,

Please HELP:

i am putting a new PC together but i got a little problem.

Here are the components:
x6800
ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe
2xSeagate 750Gb
Tuniq Tower 120 Air Cooling - on the way so Intel at the mo
Corsair Twin2X2048-PC2-8500C5
Soundblaster XF-I
750W ThermalTake
NEC DVD+-RW/RAM 16x IDE
x1950xtx


I put it all together but.....as always it didnt work from the start

my first problem is that when i power up the DVD doesnt have power, i found that when i unplug the data cable the power comes back on to it but as soon as i put it in, it goes again...

Any suggestions?

And i might have a graphix problem but it might be from my monitor so ill check with anotherone first and then ask if its not working...

Check the cabling. How can you tell that there is power on the optical drive when theres no data cable attached to it?

you can if you plug in just the power and nothin else in......

....and my graphix aint workin too 🙁 its not the monitor

anyone have any suggestions about both?
