Ok I have new system in which most items are from newegg.com

2- PC100 64MB SDRAM (from old pc)
1- pre-used Trigem 6.4 GB HD (from old pc)
1- Case with 400w power supply http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?description=11-154-023
1 BIOSTAR M7VIW ATX Motherboard http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=m7viw
1 AMD Athlon XP 1700+ Thoroughbred /266 FSB Processor CPU 1700+/ 1.47GHz
1 CPU FAN IGLOO 2320 (AMD/INTEL) RTL
1 Voodoo 3 3000 PCI Video Card (from old pc)
1 HP CD-Writer Plus (4x4x24)

Everything seems to be hooked up correctly, when I power ON the cpu fan spins for a very short time then quits, nothing else seems to happen. I get no signal to my monitor. When I plug in my eithernet cable, it lights up where it's connected to MB. Also CD Tray does not open.

Please help I dieing to know what the problems is, it is not a faulty power supply/cord because I have tested it with a new 400w ps, and the same thing happens.

Make sure you used standoffs to mount your motherboard and it's not touching anything else. I remember my old linux box's motherboard was touching the drive case and I didn't notice and the exact same thing happened. Once I used some brass standoffs (and got that stupid drive cage out of the way) it worked fine.

you were right computer seems to be working, now that it is on standoffs... but Now I get
cpu fan spins for awhile power seems to be working with no monitor signal. There is an alarm sound that keeps going off till I unplug the ps. It's coming from either the ON button area... need help please help..

Beeping sound is like an 'siren' Two different pitched beeps alternating every.5 seconds, doesn't end (beeps till you turn off power supply)

Also earlier when computer wasn't powering on at all, I switched one the jumpers to 'Clear CMOS Data.' The jumper has been moved back to regualar position since, could this be causeing the alarm?

OK I switched the mb jumper settings from 133 to 100mhz, Now computer is starting up. My new problem is it gives me several choices, ie: Safe Mode, all choices lead to the computer reverting back to the alarm sound, and everything shutting off.

Ok Now I have removed the sdram, replaced with 256MB PC2100 ddr ram
also now I am trying to install windows on a brand new 30GB Hard drive.

When I switch the cpu clock jumper to 133, it fails imidiately after starting. I can only get it to run into bios menu if the system clock is set at 100. Is there some kind of switch on the processor that's making it only run at 100mhz?

I tried updating the bios, still not working correctly

Ok xp install program boots gets two minutes in, then fails(reverts to alarm sound)

I need help please reply with what you think the problem could be.

was there juice going in when you moved it?

if you are getting an alaram its probably teh CPU temperature, make sure your heatsink is on correctly and you may need to get a better one. also thermal grease helps a lot, and the specs for your MB say it has CPU temp monitor. dont be afraid to ask a friend for help to recheck your work, my first computer that i built i didnt even put a heatsink on it, that K6 dindt last long
