New PC ethernet adapter disconnecting for a few seconds at a time

I recently got a new PC, here's the specs:
Ibuypower Trace 941 from Best Buy

Asrock Z370 Pro4 IB (a slightly cut down model they make for Ibuypower)
8700k
16 GB RAM
GTX 1080

more importantly, this motherboard has built in wifi. Anyway, since I got 2 weeks ago, I've been having intermittent ethernet disconnects, they don't happen all the time but they do seem to spark up once or twice a night (I assume during the day when I'm not here as well but don't know).

Sometimes the disconnects are over with so quickly it doesn't affect accessing webpages, but if I'm in a game, like BF4, it will drop me. Otherwise, the internet seems to work as expected, same ping as my previous PC, etc.

Now, usually the disconnects are done so quickly that when I hit the troubleshooter it says nothing is wrong, but then one time it said the wifi is turned off. So I went in and completely disable to wireless LAN adapter leaving just the wired adapter, and that seems to have reduced, but not eliminated, this. I also updated the LAN driver from the 2016 version that was installed to the current 2018 version. I did that at the same time as turning off the wireless adapter, so it may or may not have helped in reducing the occurrences.

The one thing I have not tried yet is actually leaving the wifi adapter on and transmitting alongside the wired connection, which I'd rather not do, but also it'd probably take at least a day to be sure if it helps, since these disconnects don't happen THAT regularly.

Any ideas for what else to look for?

Edit: as far as I can tell, this only affects this computer, not others in the house. I've not coordinated with anyone else at other PCs to check, but I have disabled the cell data on my phone and used it while connected to the same connection and it seems to be unaffected.

Tried the simple things first, like replacing the ethernet cable with a new one?

Over a week ago, I checked that both ends of the ethernet cable were properly seated into the slot they were in, both PC end and modem end (but kept it in the same modem slot), and that did not help. Last night after your post, I went and changed the modem end into one of the other 4 slots on the modem. It's only been 12 hours since then so it's not 100% proof, but it hasn't happened since then. What are the chances that one of the modem slots/ports/whatever they're called, is faulty?

I will still get a new cable, though -

Ports do go bad or it was marginal to begin with.
