I've read on some other sites thats some motherboards' BIOS need to be updating before they will post with a Winchester CPU, is that true?

Yes it is true. Also, I wouldn't recommend geil ram. Not that its bad, just that you can get better brands for cheaper usually, like mushkin or corsair
