Hi,

I just put together a new pc but every time I try to boot up, I get no signal from the video card. I've tried re-seating the card, inserting video card into a different pci express slot, using only one memory stick in different slots, and using two different working monitors with the same result. I hear no beeps when turning on the computer. The video card fan is spinning when the PC is powered up but no signal.

Currently I just have the video card, one stick of memory, and fans hooked up to the psu inside the case. I have one 6 pin pci-e connector hooked into the video card (not sure if that's an issue).

My build:

CPU: E8400
Motherboard: gigabyte x-38 ds4
Video Card: EVGA 8800gts g92
PSU: Corsair 620HX
Memory: Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2) /w dhx

Also, I'm not sure if this is related. When I power up, the cpu fan spins for a split second and then stops. I'm guessing that has to do with smart fan?

try bootng the system with the video card completely removed. if you hear no beeps then either the motherboard is dead, or the PSU is defective.

Took out the video card. Got no beeps, system fans were spinning. The case that I'm using has no speaker, but I'm guessing the motherboard has a speaker built in? Hmmm...kind of lost now..

I got windows xp installed and am currently running memtest86.

There's one more issue I hope someone can help me out with. When I boot up on occasion, the whole display is displaying artifacts and the PC seems frozen. Can't really tell because of the full screen artifact's. If I reboot the PC, it boots up normally. I reseated the the pcie connector, problem still exists. 8800gts evga is the card.

Any help would be appreciated.

the video post user states "FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM! It was my RAID setup all along. For some reason it would give me artifacts when I installed a new card, so I had to reformat."
