Just because they say that doesn't mean I have to be detailed or tell them the absolute truth..

I'm very opposed to giving a sh1t company like paypal any information about myself...

With as many people running their own businesses from home, they've got to have some kind of acceptance of that for a business category and sales venue. And most heavy sellers have a website, so that shouldn't be a problem. I still don't like paypal much.

As long as they don't require a TIN (Tax ID Number) I think you'll be ok but this still sucks.

I don't care if they don't even ask for a TID #. I report my taxes. I have a URL and i'm not giving it to paypal. I'm also not going to give them my sales venue(using a PO box) and I'm going to be vague as hell about my business...for example Resale.

I've run 6k through my paypal account in the past 2 days alone...

Oh yeah, I bet this is another result of the patriot act. I don't understand how anyone could possibly be for this piece of crap...

this is a good thing. It means CC fraudsters will have a tougher time rippping credit cards. Which means better service to us. I'm glad paypal is finally cracking down on fraud I've been using the service for years... though not in high volume like some of you pimps ;)

How is this going to help paypal crack down on credit card fraud? Because their best customers now have to divulge everything to them?

I get 3 or 4 emails asking to ship to nigeria or liberia all the time.

What else is there? Money orders take long and there's the possibility of getting lost in the mail.

Wake up people. Paypal is basically a bank on the web, the bureaucracy and government invasion of your privacy is going to be perpetuated. Time to switch to offshore gold. :)

Fatwallet and hot deals = Small potatoes =P

You're never going to make more than 500-1k a month doing hot deals. That's assuming you have lots of patience and want to deal with rebates...

Never heard of any of those...even on eBay. The only other e-payments I've seen on eBay other than PayPal are Western Union BidPay and that service that died last year...can't remember the name though.

At least PayPal is established and well-known throughtout the biz world

$1,000 a month for MINIMAL effort is nothing to scoff at and rebates aren't bad at all (as long as you aren't STUPID). I just got $229.95 in rebate checks in the mail today.

I remember reading an article about e-gold - basically, when you deposit money the company reserves an amount of gold equal to the amount you deposited in your name. The problem is, the gold is held in an offshore bank, there's no way for you to actually get it, the company isn't subject to any government regulations (unlike a real bank), and there's nothing to prevent the company from simply walking away with your money.

Yeah, because people are too attached to banks and fiat currencies. They aren't used because of ignorance and unfounded fear. Its growing though, the more Paypal sucks the more the e-metals will grow.

BTW they are much better for micropayments. Paypal sucks

The fraudsters have gone under, the major players in the industry have third party audits of their warehouses. There is nothing to fear. Furthermore, some of them do let you take physical delivery of your gold, e-gold.com does.

The fact that they are outside regulations is what is so great. Plus your funds are 100% inflation proof.

Share some ideas then! :D

I tried selling software on Ebay (completely legit, following all copyright and license restrictions). Made chump change :(
