Ok got my new parts in...

ECS A780GM-A AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Brisbane 2.7GHz Socket AM2
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800

Using same case and PSU and Vid card as in my sig

Turn the PC on and it stays on, but no signal to the monitor. Light is orange - typical blue if there is a "connection". BIOS doesn't appear either. WinXP Pro...

I CAN turn the PC off with the power button which I couldn't before - the cause for the new parts.

Check the PS with your ATX PS tester.
And you might try reseating your memory and video card.

Are you getting any POST errors? If not, see below...if you are consult the mobo manual :)
-Start by unplugging any devices not needed to complete POST, such as hard drives, cd roms, etc (only require RAM,CPU,VGA,PSU)
-If not, pull the RAM to see if you get POST errors. If you do, then install one stick at a time...it can be a bad stick.
-If not, pull the VGA to see if you get POST errors. If you do, then it's possible the VGA is bad, or you don't have the power seated correctly.
-If not, reseat your CPU and see if you get POST errors.
-If you still are getting no POST errors with ONLY the CPU installed, then reseat the power connections to the mobo.
At this point if the symptom has not changed in the previous steps, either your mobo or PSU is bad...or you're doing something wrong

thanks guys...Good and Bad news further...

The "no screen" problem was the memory needing to be in DIMMS 3, 4.
I was able to boot to windows...inserted the cdrom that came with the mobo to get the audio/ethernet drivers. It asked to reboot...which I did...got the bios, then winXP splash screen for about 3-5sec...then BAM screen goes blank/black and NOTHING...it just sits there. Won't boot into windows now.

Inserted the winXP disc to try a repair...waiting for the past 10mins on the part that says; Examining 76294 MB Disk 0 at Id 1 on bus - on atapi...

It finally went thru, gave me a DOS looking window (I never did a REPAIR). it asked which windows I wanted to log into - chose the option and entered my PW. Then it went to a e:\windows

I just typed exit and let the PC reboot - back to it just sitting at a blank screen after about 2secs of seeing the WinXP splash screen

UGH - that what I didn't wanna hear...well until I was able to grab some info off the C: haha

Guess it was fine on initial boot, then once I started installing drivers it was all down hill from there? :(

Generally yes. Especially on XP. This is why it is always imprtant to back up before we do things like this. However, all of us tend to forget every now and again.

Yeah I didn't do constant backups and the mobo blew before I had a chance to do a back up :(

weird that it booted into windows UNTIL I did driver updates :(

UGH the problems continue. Successfully installed windows, but now after a fresh install it just sits at the windows log/splash screen. Been sitting there for 15+mins now.
:(

May want to check your RAM and voltages. You may need to give the system a slight bump in the RAM voltages.

In the BIOS settings, not really all that sure on what your BIOS will look like but the typical default ram voltage on most mobos is set to 1.8 or so, many sticks however require you use 2.0 to 2.1 volts to run them without errors (basically, cheaper sticks that have been overclocked at the factory, hence need more voltage to run correctly).

Found out the PC would hang cause it was trying to "find" the IDE drive. Unplugged the secondary HDD and BAM sucka fired right up real quick. When plugging the drive back in, I can hear a slight "tap"/"ping"/"click" sound...guessing the drive is pretty much toast.

Other then that the thing boots up MUCH faster then my old parts, haha.
