Has anyone tried out the new fans now manufactured by Minibea-Panaflo? Supposedly, their quieter than before, with revised motors and new blade design.

Link please? Do they come in the same performance ranges as before?

Ok, Dorothy Bradbury has just explained everything to me:

April 2004
o Panaflo-Minebea merged to create M3

June 2004
o Minebea completed redesigning all Panaflo processes
o Boxes now marked as Matsushita-Minebea-Motor (M3)
o All fans produced after June 2004 are new model M3
o However there is a lag before distributors have that production

M3 fans are identified by their production date:
o Top left code = year / month / day / production-code
o Code of 4F23 = 2004 / June / 23rd
o M3 fans are thus fans with codes after 4F, eg, 4G 4H 4I 4J 4K

My Panaflos have a 4I code, so I have the new ones... and didn't even know it!

Ok well looking at my fans the code isn't like that. According to that layout my fan was made in 2009.

The Code is 9I. I guess i have one of the old ones. :-( looks like it is time to order some more. If you have the new fans, can you tell me where you bought them from.

Ummm ... you guys are talking about "Panaflo" as if that's a company. Panaflo is a model of fan made by Panasonic (Matsushita). So did this "Minebea" company just enter into some sort of production partnership arrangement with Panasonic (Matsushita) then? Minebea couldn't have "merged" with Panaflo, as Panaflo is not a company.

Clarification, anyone? 😀

Yes, you are right. Panaflo is a trademark of Matsushita. But, sometimes companies sell their divisions to another company while retaining the trademark.

In this case, Panasonic and Minebea have created an entire new company called Matsushita-Minebea-Motor (M3) wich will manufacture fan motors, stepping motors, vibration motors and DC brush motors. The fans still have the Panaflo trademark, but in the future they may not.

I got them from www.dorothybradbury.co.uk
You can probably get them in the US too, just ask before if they're the new ones.

As for the product code, you can email her and simply ask her wether your fan is the old on or the new one.
