Right now my Mandrake 9.0 works just fine with the configuration I have, but I am going to upgrade my system to a newer motherboard, with a better chipset and some extra features to it.
I am also planning to use an onboard sound instedad of my oldy SB Live (damm this thing is 4 years old :Q).
What is the correct procedure to do the upgrade?
Right now my system is using I845 chipset mobo, so what I will have to do to update the chipset driver on linux?
What about the sound?
What should I do to install my new, integrate Gigabit NIC?
Help...
Is there any moterboard installation howto?
Edit: Maybe I shuld just "upgrade" to a newer Mandrake?

Motherboard upgrades are extremely easy under Linux, compared to Windows. As long as the components are supported, there's really nothing to do - just replace the parts, and reconfigure the devices afterwards. There are no deadly chipset issues that will keep the machine from booting, unless you're using really obscure hardware (which you're not). With Mandrake, I'd guess that it would handle all the reconfiguration for you with some kind of hardware detection routine at bootup. At worst, you'll have to fiddle with the module configuration a bit. Also, I'm assuming from your questions that you haven't done something like compile a custom kernel and remove unused modules - i.e. you're using the stock Mandrake kernel setup.

Mandrake 9.0 doesn't play nice during installation on an I845E chipset or above. I kept on getting PCI resouce collisions and the intsallation program couldn't pick up an of my hard disks. U might want to try mandrake 9.1

Well RH7.3 supports the 845 mobo's .

I'd go w/ RH9.0 just to get the latest software.
