I'm looking to purchase a new motherboard..
right now my configuration looks like this:

1 x MSI 875P NEO-FIS2R Hovedkort S478/800mhz
I875P,SATA,ATX,GbLAN,Dual-DDR,1394,Raid

1 x Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Boxed PC800
Socket PGA478, 512kB "Northwood"

1 x Corsair TWINX1024-3200LL DDR-DIMM 1024MB
Kit w/two matched CMX512-3200LL DIMMs

2 x Maxtor S-ATA/150 160GB 7200RPM 8MB
DiamondMax Plus 9, 8 MB cache Antatt

1 x Western Digital Raptor 36,7GB SATA
10000Rpm 8MB cache WD360GD

Would this be the best possible P4 solution, or should I opt for the
Asus P4C800/DELUXE Hovedkort S478/800mhz instead of the MSI?

Do they utilize the same BIOS? (Award?)

Any recommendations as to what kind of cooling solution I should choose,
and power supply? I am looking for something _VERY_ quiet.

Thanks! :)

Looks nice, however i would save some money and go for 2x512 DIMMS.

And for cooling if you are looking for quiet, go water cooling.

Well, the TwinMX has 2 x 512MB = 1024 total.

Do anyone know if you get SATA cables supplied with the motherboard, or do I have to order those sepparately?

Water Cooling is on my "wanted" list.. but I dont know how it works :).
Do I manually "fill" some container with water, and let it run, or do I have to attach it to the sink, or what? =)

How about this:
Asetek VapoChill Premium Edition Titanium Socket478 ATX
But its very expensive.

IMO if you want the asus board then go for the Asus P4C800 non-deluxe model if you don't need onboard firewire.

I hear a bios fix was needed for some boards to get LL modules running happily. I have to wonder if you'd be better off with the PC3500 sticks or just non LL (maybe the bios fix was just to default to realistic timings).

I'm considering similar memory options so I want to hear what others say about this.

PS: If you can save money buy buying a non-twin-packaged set, go ahead and do it. From what I hear, timing, the layout and number of memory chips is what needs matched, and the twin modules aren't really tested togther anyways.

Good luck trying to find a non-deluxe P4C800 though... I'm interested in finding one of those and may just go for springdale because I can't find em on pricewatch.

[EDIT] My suggestion is that: if they're charging you $10 extra for a twin package of the modules, you can go ahead and buy two separate XMS LL modules (single package) and save money. I'm debating between Corsair LL modules or the non-LL PC3500 myself.

Quiet on air is pretty easy really. For the PS, get an Antec True Power in the wattage of your choice.. For CPU cooling, you can use a Zalman CPU cooler, or a Swiftech MCX4000 or Alpha 8942 heatsink with a Panaflo M1A fan. Any of those will be very quiet.

I would get the Asus over the MSI board.

Vapochill SUX! get watercooling.

Also there are no DDR2 boards, only dual channel DDR.

Also if you use Sata drives one of them will be on the controller that feeds the PCI bus, if its just used for storage it wont be a problem, but if its feeding a software raid or something similar your PCI bus will be heavily taxed.

Should I use something else than the Twin memory.. which is the best performing memory with the lowest timings? I'll probably FSB overclock, any recommendations?

Would the ABIT IC7-G be a better selection than the MSI 875P-NEO-FIS2R?

Anyone know if they use the same bios? I know some of my friends have had bad experiences with ABIT, and its always been a laughing stock "cheap quality p.o.s" in my 'circles', we have mostly purchased ASUS and never had any problems, but it seems to me that both of these cards have better featuers and overclockability than the P4800 Deluxe card from ASUS.. Any recommendations (and why?).

Thanks

Go out and read some reviews.

The Asus 875PE board pretty much dominates the benchmarks, except for the MSI NEO, but then again the NEO uses dynamic overclocking.
