Chrome is killing me these days. I've had that same issue, and I get checkerboarding everywhere lately. Turned off hardware acceleration, and instead of checkerboarding, I get white flashes.

Chrome wasn't ever the fastest, but I lived with it since it first came out. Going to be hard to dump it if this nonsense keeps up.

Chrome was very lightweight during the netbook age. Came in handy on low end computers with little RAM.

Firefox and variants like Pale Moon or Waterfox are better now, and Firefox always had the better library of plugins/extensions. Firefox version updates seem to go backwards sometimes with the features or changes they make, though, it's been a while since I actually appreciated an update to the browser. I use Opera as my alternate browser instead of Chrome, except for Chromecasting. Only reason I keep Chrome at all.

Even on Android I prefer the old AOSP browser and Maxthon.

That happened to me a while back. Just restarted the browser and all is good.

Been happening to me for a couple weeks with Chrome. Close browser and reopen and it's fine.

When they came out with Chrome 32, which changed a lot of elements in the UI, such as the scroll bars, I decided to go back to Chrome 31. Took a little doing to disable all of google's automatic update mechanisms, but I've avoided any updates since and have had zero issues. What version are they up to now - 50 or so?

Google Chrome is up to date.

I thought letters normally fell off the screen and started dancing around me?

You using this? I hope you're using that. Must be some other ingredient to make them dance after they fall off the screen, though. 😕 😉

I have never given in to entreaties by Google to install Chrome. I'm using Pale Moon these day, don't know why I shouldn't. I have one issue on one of my machines with it, but it isn't serious.
