There are two big deals:

1) Someone high up has done several speaches saying that distruction like this could have never been predicted. I'll leave out names since this isn't P&N.

2) Even knowing of these predictions so many people stayed. When will people learn? Is this finally going to be a wake up call to pay attention to these warnings?

While surfing thru the radio stations on the way to work this morning, I heard Mancow saying the above three were predicted by somebody (can't remember who) in August 2001.

It was mentioned on the front page of the LA times yesterday, which is probably where he got it from.

This wasn't so much a prediction as a statement of certainty. Eventually a huge hurricane would hit Lousiana. That's what happens with high intensity low frequency events. You wait and wait and wait, and eventually it happens.
