OK, since everyone seems slow on the draw about this, what's the verdict on these (21.83).

When changing drivers in WinXP, should I change to a generic driver and then install, or just run the install for the new drivers?

i just do device-manager=>update driver and didnt have any problems, and in case something goes wrong, you can always do device-manager=>roll back driver

These drivers suck. I hoped they would solve the "infinite loop" error of 21.81's but NOOO, windows XP just froze again. Next time I'm getting ATI. Here's the windows log file:

//
// Watchdog Event Log File
//

LogType: Watchdog
Created: 2001-10-11 18:39:02
TimeZone: 300 - Eastern Standard Time
WindowsVersion: XP
EventType: 0xEA - Thread Stuck in Device Driver

//
// The driver for the display device got stuck in an infinite loop. This
// usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device
// driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your
// display device vendor for any driver updates.
