No visible rust anywhere on the car at this point, but I do know that the end isn't far off. The car has a little sentimental value for me -- we've been through a lot together!

I have one tiny rust point visible; everything else is underneath the car, and only seen by looking for it.

The wife wants an SUV of some sort. There is merit to that because we probably do need something with some decent hauling capacity, but I don't like their gas mileage. Otherwise, I'd have no problem with something modest. My wife has a Civic and I'm not a fan, but I'd look at the newer ones.

Real SUV or pseudo SUV? Do you need to tow something, or actually go into mud, sand, and dirt with it? Or do you just want a little more ground clearance, a higher seat, and the ability to stuff a ton of luggage into the back of it?

Okay, so far, I've named every major brand (except for exotics), I've discounted about 40% of them for reliability reasons, and I've narrowed it down to a FWD or AWD sedan or coupe. Computer-controlled part time AWD is acceptable, though my preference is all time. Convertibles, of both hard top and rag top, are unacceptable.

A sedan would be preferred to a coupe, but that by no means is a ruling against a coupe. It needs to be sporty, and my definition of sporty is the whole package. It needs to be handle sharply, stop quickly, and accelerate briskly from both a stop and midrange.

No towing; we effectively need a larger trunk with more clearance to haul stuff for the house/yard.

My ideal would be to live somewhere where the temps don't go any higher than the low 70s and don't go below the 50s. 😀

San Francisco. Now just for that pesky totalitarian local government, bankrupt fascist state government, massive overcrowding, and disgusting cost of living...

The problem with California is the people. Fucking up a gorgeous place to live.
