Still some tweaks to be made. But I'm drunk. This is when creativity flies.

Wow that looks amazing

It just started having this issue a couple of days ago. One would think it was memory, but at least the initial Windows RAM diag passes. I may try memtest from DOS next. I have the Windows version of Memtest but I don't trust that.

I used to have another 4 GB RAM kit in this system and it was unstable as hell. I finally replaced it, despite the fact that it did not fail memtest from DOS. I put in an 8 GB kit (12 GB total) and it has been rock solid for 6 months. I find it hard to believe that RAM just keeps having issues here.

I did see a SMART error on a 300 GB drive when it booted, but I have only seen that once in several reboots. I may still pull the drive when I remove the RAM. The 8 GB kit I installed was supposed to be just temporary; I have two unopened 8 GB kits and I was going to up it to 16 GB at some point and take the 8 GB in there to use in my next computer (it is faster RAM).

I was considering discontinuing this box and making it the basis of another server, but damn, I keep having issues with it. I should probably see if I can P2V the OS drive somehow.

Just sitting here, working on some stuff, and then computer just turns off. Won't turn back on. No signs of life.

Oh..the power's out.

Whew.

good luck. I would've thought RAM as well

I finally got the latest updates to apply and I'm just going to let it sit and monitor it for the next 24 to 48 hours to see if it is stable.

My main computer just crashed though. 😱 I've had 2 blue screens since I installed the latest AMD drivers, IIRC. Prior to that, it had been many, many months if not 1 yr+.

In my last 2 machines, I've gone with ATI/AMD cards. I had the 512mb 4870 in my last machine and it was an awesome card. Right now I have a 2gb 5870. And I'm not satisfied at all with the drivers. YouTube videos make whichever monitor its on flicker a bit. It's sometimes sluggish in my 3D software when simply dragging a single cube around the scene. AMD's shitty drivers have me thinking of coughing up a few hundred on a comparable Nvidia card. Then I could use the rendering engines that support CUDA.

I read somewhere (I think in the VC&G forum here) that the fan control may have been broken in the 11.6 drivers, and since I was playing AoC with all high settings, I could understand how that could cause the first blue screen. I am not sure about the one today. I think when AoC blue-screened last week, it reset my BIOS settings and I had to load my OC profile, which may not have had all my recent settings. I should probably check.

Hey Indy, how do you use the machine gun while driving a tank?
And do you have to earn weapon load outs for each class? the default is kinda crappy.

So, the tank has two machine guns -- for the top one, you obviously have to have a guy in the turret. The machine gun for the driver is one of the weapon load outs you unlock. I'll load it in a few and tell you which one it is and yes, you also will unlock new weapon load outs for classes as you progress.

Back when I first got the card, and researched for days on how to fix the flickering screens, I came across similar findings. Many people said the AMD overdrive is what was causing several different problems. I keep it off, and still have all the problems I posted above. I didn't fudge with the card's BIOS at all. I couldn't find good enough instructions on how/what to do, so I said f it.

Man, I hate unsubscribing from a mailing list, and then getting ANOTHER email telling me I've been unsubscribed.

Prior to my 6870, I had only owned two other ATI cards, only one of which was in my main rig: a 9800 Pro. I am really getting tired of them releasing driver hotfixes with nearly every version. Their notes say the blue screen happens when HDMI and DisplayPort are used at the same time, but I am still going to load it and check my system's BIOS to make sure loadline calibration is enabled.

Yeah, I was talking about the driver's mg, is it enough to shoot helicopters down?
