The issue really comes down to Sharepoint administration. When you make a site, you have no way to specify which DB it goes into. Rather, you have to use a hacked-up approach to do it (ie, move the primary DB offline, mount the new DB, create the site, and bring the first one back up) or use a bunch of STSADM commands.

The Georgia Southern University Research and Service Foundation, Inc., is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that assists, supports, and furthers the research, service, and educational missions of Georgia Southern University.
