It looks like there is a $100 difference between the 2500K and 2600K. Is it really worth the difference?
Do you plan on overclocking its balls off? If so, then YES. Get the 2600k.
You won't have any problems reaching that speed on air. I had mine at 4.7 GHz, but it was just a tad unstable, so I backed it down to 4.5 GHz. Excellent chip.
hold out!
So you just want to see the benches right before ordering the 2600K?SURELY we'll see some reliable benches in the next couple of weeks.

are you holding out?
8 cores sound really sweet, but I still haven't decided if I'd be better off with the 8 or 4 with faster single thread performance. No, if the benches are comprehensive enough and show that a Bulldozer performs well (let's say a Bulldozer core performs at 90% of an i7 core), then that would probably be enough for me to wait and buy the Bulldozer because the 4 additional cores would seal the deal.
If the benches show that the 2600K really destroys it, then I get the 2600K.
oh la la.oui... waiting for bulldozer to come out to get some cheaper cpus
When is Bulldozer expected to hit? Given the amount of hype it's received, it'd be devastating if it wasn't within the 10% performance margin.
It was supposed to be released in June but there were performance issues and it has been delayed (IIRC) until September.
performance was lower than expectedWhat were the "performance" issues?
