Getting nice and very expensive bumper plates seems a bit silly without being able to do Olympic lifts in the basement. On the other hand, it means I can upgrade to going to the shed in the future without needing to purchase new weights, or if I end up staying in New England long-term, I can bring them with me to a new location.

The equipment right now is rather pricey, but most of it is very high quality stuff, so that I could keep it pretty much forever.

It's one of those things that a high quality bench, bar, and bumper plates will still be usable decades later as long as they are cared for properly.

Another edge for the basement. A more stable environment, more benign, better for longevity of the equipment.

So the phone is probably going to die sometime tomorrow during the work day. Unfortunately, I'm spending the afternoon in a room without a computer for USB charging. I guess I'll bring along Return of the King and finish it.

It has now occurred to me that a 5000 BTU air conditioner costs about twice as much as a common household box fan, and would be VASTLY more effective.

It would probably be a little bit overloaded due to the size of the building, but again, it doesn't need to be wonderful, just tolerable.

As for the winter... right now, I'm looking at a 1500 watt space heater, which seems to be less than $100, and would be about the minimum value, using 10 watts per square foot. Yet again, not wonderful, just tolerable.

For the total range of the year, that is.

Right now, the shed takes outdoor temperatures or higher in sunlight, so 0 in the winter, 110 in summer sun.

I wonder if those variations will cause damage to the equipment, or damage when the equipment is used after being cold. :hmm:

Shed is winning! I'd like to have the punching bag in the basement, so I could use it whenever... but the shock and noise on the house would be bad. Another edge for the shed.
