Mitsubishi.

I like the Lancer. Always liked the styling of it. The Ralliart is a cheap interior, slightly ostentatious exterior, a great car overall... yet I find the WRX more compelling. The Evo would be spectacular, but it's too expensive. The base Lancers suffer from severe NVH without performance to make it worthwhile. So unfortunately, I think Mitsubishi bows out.

Also, I have doubts for the company's long term stability (with respect to the automotive division only).

That leaves Subaru, Mazda, Nissan, Infiniti, and the domestics.

Infiniti is easy. G35x is fine, I'd slap on some kneepads for a G37x.

It's the previous generation dude.

Keep your Honda if you're content with it.

If you aren't, you still probably can't justify it.

I wasn't serious. I love civic + moped combination. I now need to find an old insight for the gf. Her van is killing gas

Nissan.

Nissan, Nissan, Nissan. WHY do you not have AWD cars (except the GTR)? By all reports, ATTESA, despite being shackled to slushboxes (which you do, admittedly, build rather nice automatic transmissions), is a very good AWD system. Also, CVT? Yeah, not quite ready. Maxima? No thanks, a G costs a few grand more for a car that has a RWD/AWD split mode, and is just flat better.

But, since I'm trying to be realistic... Maxima, and Altima 3.5SE, 2007 or later for the Altima, 2004 or later for the Maxima.

Subaru and Mazda are difficult.

Subaru! WRX and STI, that's it. STI is vastly superior to the WRX, thanks to Brembo brakes, more engine power, and a much stronger transmission. WRX has the sedan, STI only has the wide-body sedan as of 2011. I'll write them both.

Other problems... both are fuel inefficient four cylinders, have giant attention attracting styling, most notably the massive hood scoop, and the 2008 WRX is severely underpowered.

The Mazda 6s, equipped with the 3.0L V6, is severely underpowered, but thanks to the six speed automatic, hides it fairly well, and has brilliant poise. The headlights are a little undersized, but remain HID projectors. Tires need replacement on pretty much any of them, factory equipment sucks.

The next edition of it came in 2009, which means pricey, equipped with a 3.7L V7 generating 274 HP, solving the 6's one major weakness. Unfortunately, they decided that was a good time to add multiple thousands to the pricetag, increase the size of the car, and make it look absolutely retarded. It's a flop.

There is a semi-AWD 2.3L turbo edition, but reportedly, the AWD sucks on it, and if I want an AWD turbocharged car, I'll just save my pennies for a WRX, despite the glass transmission.

The dimensions of the new Mazda 6 are only 3" longer than the previous generation, but it looks so much larger. I would guess it has higher fenders, hood, and trunk then.

I think, given a choice between a 2009 Mazda 6s, or a 2007 Acura TL-S, I'd go for the Acura. I suspect the price would be comparable.

But at that point, the price for a 2007 G35x would also be comparable, and that would be the winner.

I'll mark down a 2002 onwards for the 6, despite the 2002 being far too old, and the newer ones being questionable.

As for the Mazda 3, among N/A four cylinders, it's probably best in class. Unfortunately, anything with compression or more cylinders will beat it, and that doesn't work for me.

The Mazdaspeed 3 looks a little weird, I'm not a huge fan of the hatchback design, but supposedly, it's mad fun. Fast, lots of torque, manual, great handling. It doesn't have AWD, which I think was a poor decision for Mazda, because they could've challenged Subaru.
