And this system is badly out of date. Like... about ten years out of date. Maybe 5% of its content is new or updated since the creation of it.
 
So that takes care of the cell phone quandary, the home gym construction, and even the student loan debt service. And probably still have quite a bit left over.
 
My vote is for separated servers, since the HTPC and the VMs have such wildly different wants for hardware. The HTPC of course wants tons of drive space and not much else, the VMs want everything except lots of drive space (relatively speaking on the drive space there).

I don't use the HTPC much. If I can get the software and capture card working in Win 2008 R2, I could have the DVR functionality on the base OS and then virtualize the actual media center software/interface.
