I am back to running VMWare on my HTPC in addition to my main server, and disk I/O is horrific on the HTPC. I just don't have the space in the case to RAID some drives though.

Do it. Separate the VMs from your HTPC. All your HTPC really needs for hardware is the ability to decode and stream 1080p, anything beyond that is extra.

Two cases will make life a lot easier. You have a whole house to hide them in. Build a wooden box and tell your wife it's an end table. 😛

This is sad. The guy wrote out "large absorbant pads approx 1.5x3 feet in size", and the worker just wrote a ? next to the line and left the slip for someone else.

The size was off by two inches, the description was easily sufficient. *sigh*

I took one look at the customer right now, and typed in his name on the screen, he made this little cough of amazement that I recognized him on sight. 😀

Took about 80 minutes to process around 200 records, although some 50 of them ended up going to the pile that I can't process.

Still about two per minute, not bad.

I think I should try to get permission to rebuild the entire stockroom database this summer.

I need RAM more than anything. Maybe I should just buy a new Proliant for the house with 32 GB or 64 GB of RAM and do it right. 😀

My vote is for separated servers, since the HTPC and the VMs have such wildly different wants for hardware. The HTPC of course wants tons of drive space and not much else, the VMs want everything except lots of drive space (relatively speaking on the drive space there).
